... as we walk along it, it has no one in the engineer’s seat either so it’s not going anywhere.
The German ladies are all chattering and gesturing so we ask where they are going and they say Gdansk. Hurray! English speakers and moving in the same direction as us. They inform us that our train has been cancelled. We all crowd around the information board (finally found it) to ...
... as expected but its also expected you drive into it if someone wants to pass you, not only do you have to watch out for people selling farm good in these lanes and broken down cars when your driving in them at 90km a hour, you have to watch your back for passing cars and to make it even more fun you have to move into the slip road if a oncoming car is in your path! It seems to work in a strange and everyone is very polite about it, but for a foreigner it can sometimes look like cars ...
Szczecin, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland piholland... a nice peddler spotted us, and when I say nice, I mean he wouldn't take no for an answer and insisted on taking us all the way from the train station to our Hostel. The nine of us had gathered together as soon as we got off the train just long enough to make sure no one was still on board, but apparently that was all of the time he needed. He came up to us assuming that we spoke German (I don't think German passers-by are too rare since the city is just inside the ...

Torgelow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany nayda_dew... glass while stumbling down the road. It was quite amusing. My time spent in Szczecin was also my first run in with the monster known as Eastern European bathrooms. While at Ola's graduation I felt that I needed to use the restroom, Polish food was not treating me well. After asking the information lady in Ukrainian where the bathroom was, she refused to help me. Apparently speaking Ukrainian is not viewed positively in this part of Poland ...
Szczecin, Baltic Coast, Poland durnadupa... the train station. After some initial greetings we headed to their place for some food before doing some sightseeing. I really love having this kind of local support when getting to places unfamiliar to me. As for the city itself, Sczecin was a great positive surprise to me. I was expecting something gray and dull with lots of these terrible soviet like residential compounds. What I found, actually, was a city very much alike German cities with nice historical buildings ...
Szczecin, Poland gbasilio... prachtig.
Szczecin, Poland thorgal67... Kinga's book, so if somebody needs one : for only 15 euro it can be yours. After that we left in the direction of Szczecin through one of the slowest roads I have ever seen (ok, we are exaggerating, the road from Mexico City to Tenochtitlan is even worse). But it was not our lucky day : road works, detours, road blocks, .... 300 km took us more that 6 hours effective road time, not really very fast. But the ...
