It was a museum day today......the Galleria Degli Uffizi, the Galleria dell' Academia and the Gallileo Museum.

The Italians really know how to preserve their history in museums ...however they don't like you taking photos. It felt unnatural to see all the beautiful paintings, tapestries and statues and not be able to take photos. Saw the …

The sun gods smiled down on us today and we had a glorious 24C today for our walking tour of Rome. Late start of 9:45 am meant a chance to catch up on some reading.

Only four were up for the walk and we hit the Metro for our first stop which was the Church of Trinita Dei Monti at the top of the Spanish Steps. Great views over Rome. Next …

Got to Florence from Venice and checked in to the Ester Hotel. We are getting a train out to Pisa to see the tower. The hotel we stayed at was literally 1 minute walk from the main train station in Florence and very close to all the sights. We had a great view from our second floor apartment.

Camping in style in Florence

A travel blog entry by rojugu

... we stayed at was in the outskirts of Florence, but it is unlike any caravan park I had ever seen. This caravan park has 2 swimming pools, with life guards and water slides, a bar at the pool with a happy hour that lasted for 3 hours (3 euros for 660ml beer), and restaurants. The best part was the nightclub. The caravan park had its own night club, and it was packed! If this is the level of quality of caravan parks in Europe I think I’m going to have an awesome ...

Florence has turtle power!

... Grappa is much better than what we get in the states, but it still tastes like rubbing alchohol, even the high end stuff. But we had a great time with our new friends.
Even luckier than hitting the wine festival, all of the museums in Florence happened to be free that weekend! I think the wine revitalized us enough so we could get back into museum mode, plus you can't turn down a free ticket! So Saturday morning we woke up early to get to the Uffuzi where all of ...

Aware that two dorm beds often cost more than a private hotel room, Lyndi and I walked just left of the train station upon arrival in Florence and found Hotel Ester to be exactly what we were looking for. Taking up the second floor (or the "2th" Floor as they say...) it had a mini refrigerator, comfortable bed and even a little patio - plus a computer right in the room with free internet! All for 40 Euro! Highly recommended.
