Aware that two dorm beds often cost more than a private hotel room, Lyndi and I walked just left of the train station upon arrival in Florence and found Hotel Ester to be exactly what we were looking for. Taking up the second floor (or the "2th" Floor as they say...) it had a mini refrigerator, comfortable bed and even a little patio - plus a computer right in the room with free internet! All for 40 Euro! Highly recommended.

We finished the meal with a decadent dessert of mousse-covered profiteroles and panna-cotta with chocolate sauce. The waiter was very friendly (somewhat unusual to be honest) although I think it was mostly because he thought Jen was "sweet". He asked me if she was as sweet in the morning as she is in the evening and I just looked at him and said “hell ...
