Meeting my new family

The adventure has begun! I met up with my new Canadian friends Katy, Dan and Sarah in London, Gatwick for 1 night at the Gatwick Belmont Guest House. The plan was to all shares a quad room but we were offered two doubles instead which worked out quite nice, we just shared a bathroom. All of us did the "getting to know strangers" celebratory beer… that turned into 6 or 7. J Some of us were hurting pretty badly in the morning for the flight but it ...

Where the Bullfight Was Born

... No words or pictures could fully capture the essence of this city, you just have to be there to fully experience its beauty. I then explored the city, going to places that are not commonly visited by tourists, I did some shopping, had a beer and tapas at a small restaurant and then walked through the park. Unfortunately, the day was cut short due to time restrictions and I did not have the chance to do everything I wanted to do but I will definitely be back.

... rums had the desired effect of making for a good night's sleep. The night was a bit wobbly for some of us.

At some point in the night it was time to leave the pub and head back to the camp site. It appeared to be locked so I jumped the fence. Andrew and Heather just opened the gate. Oh well. Lene seemed not to notice the open gate and also jumped the fence, much to everybody's amusement.
<br ...

Gibraltar: Don't Feed the Apes!

... live here, and of those 22,000 are Gibraltarians. They do not welcome outsiders moving in. We started at the museum, and though we spent only a short time there, I saw quite a bit of stuff that I'd like to revisit. We then went on to "the Rock" itself, taking the cable car up to see the Barbary Apes and take in the view. We saw quite a few of the monkeys, and nobody got attacked (We had been warned that they might jump on our heads or try to snatch ...

Gibraltar: A Taste of Britain and Monkey Attacks

... control at the border, and walked across the border onto the isthmus. The border itself is unique - to get to the town and the rock, you have to walk across an RAF airstrip that has now transitioned mostly to private, commercial use. Since only 6 flights come in a day, almost all from the UK, people mostly just walk across, but when a flight comes in, traffic is completely stopped. We went straight to Casemate's square, a huge square full of shops ...

När maten blivit digesterad tog vi alla tre bilen ner till europas sydspets samt Gibraltar och hälsade pa var världsdels ända fritt levande apkoloni, vars ursprung inte är helt klarlagt. Naturally the military stuff won out, although to our grave disappointment we reached the cluster of attractions over 3km away about 5 minutes after they all shut (5.30pm on the dot, how ...

At the entry of the Med

After a great sail down here I´ve finally got the chance to see these monkeys that are hanging around up here. It´s just a piece of rock that sticks out of the ocean and if you look over to Africa and Marocco you can actually see where Europe used to be attached some millions years ago. Everything is tax free here. Everything. I know some of you girls would go bananas down here. So did I, but on the booze of course. We took ...

Eeeeee, i'n't this lovely

... high winds stopped the cable cars for two days I don't even know if there are monkeys; I spent three days throwing up. David's first Gibraltar experience: There was indeed a hospital, chips, and warm flat beer - much of it infected, but cheap, the colony being duty free. Beer was the only cheap thing - everything else is about twice as expensive as a few hundred meters away on the other side of the border, and our money ...
