El Chalten Road 10 El Calafate, Province of Santa Cruz, Patagonia, Argentina
... movie crashing into the river after being driven off of a bridge.

We wait patiently for something to happen. It´s now just over an hour and then boom! A massive chunk of ice (likely the size of a small home) falls roughly 100 feet to the waters surface. Ice just funnels into the water causing visible ripple amongst the surface that makes a 60 passenger boat rock vigorously from port to starboard. This was by far the ...
El Calafate, Santa Cruz, Argentina leahrob... a frente. A San Martin eh a

Eventually I found it and I wasn´t cold one bit the whole day. You can not believe how incredibly blue these glaciers are. It´s indescribable. We saw some of the most spectacular lagoons with bright blue water inside, bottomless cravasses, it was awesome! Well, worth the money even in the ******* rain. The next day we decided to just hang around the town. Not too much to do, especially when the internet is down. The next day we caught the bus to a little town called El ...
El Chalten, Patagonia, Argentina msilver_21... to camp. Both of us enjoyed the steaming hot showers that warmed us up, but unfortuately we had a terrible night of sleep as we kept getting smacked in the head by the sides of our tent as the rain and wind made it feel as though a very large man were vigorously shaking our tent from the outside and threatening to pull the poles out. Day 3: Catamaran/Bus to Laguna Amarga and walk to Refugio Torre The poor conditions continued ...

El Chalten, Patagonia, Argentina stevemartinaWeek 22 March 30th - 31st Monday, I awake weary eyed at about 6 a.m. and pack my bags, and head off to El Chalten. It was only 3 hours on the bus but the roads on the infamous route 40 are strange. It is like they are all under construction, that they started but forgot forgot to lay the tarmac on top. They are reasonably straight and wide, well planned out, but they are essentially just gravel tracks. I ...
El Chalten, Patagonia, Argentina shanem... to walk single-file; flanked by guides and fitted with harnesses. So what did we see? Crevasses with pools of clear blue ice water; semi-caves; glacial valleys; and a vortex-like ice-hole (see picture)! Not your everyday stuff! Our hiking on the glacial surface was rewarded once we returned to the catamaran with a whisky and biscuits, as well as a sail-by of the glacier as we headed away. The glacial hike was the perfect preparation for our next adventure, the ascent to the Torres del Paine...
El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina atullgupta... branches, fallen trees, fungus covered trunks, weird parasites and the occasional stream with clear drinking water. It was easy to see that there were no settlements or sources of pollution above, so the water was fast flowing clear, cold and delicious. Eventually we emerged onto open mountainside to bypass the Mirador (for wimps) and take the formidably steep but not rugged path to the ridge. Here I could not keep up with Vicky and she leapt on ...
