Atlantic ocean, whales and flamingos!

... to a spot to watch more whales. I saw a whale actually jump out of the water and land with a big splash. What beautiful creatures. Did some yoga and that evening we had some amazing seafood for super cheap. I love this place.

Our last day in Puerto Madryn I rose around 7am for the sunrise only to find a cloud cover and no sun. Abort mission. Its cold out and we have 8 hours before our bus departs ...

"And then, you wash the finger!"

... of Elphick threatening to get up the next mornign to watch it (Id like to point out here that he did set his alarm at 0600 to watch it the next morning but slept through the alarm which woke me up for the day - retriburion for the snoring, perhaps?). A little way along the coast and with the pink tinge in the sky from the low sun gone we stopped at the beach where we were all astounded aty how close the wales were to the shore. Justine informed us that they were this close to ...

Orcas and Welsh Cakes

We made it to Argentina after a 28 hour bus journey. Reckon that was the longest one yet. We both coped with it OK though despite Helen having a bad cold. We have been staying here in Puerto Madryn as it is central to two places we wanted to visit. Puerto Madryn was the place where the fist of the welsh settlers landed back in the early 1800s. They established a farming community 60km inland from hear called Gaiman. On Tuesday we caught the bus ...

... toured the island's sites on the bike - scenic views of seals and penguins, blah blah blah.... The tires on my bike are pretty much done, but the gravel roads were decent so I took it easy and had no problems. The next day I spent some time on the beach, and some time starting to get ready to GO HOME... flights, bike shipping, employment, etc. Ironic that in the tiniest of beach getaways is where reality begins to take root again.

Argentina: Puerto Madryn & Trelew

... to worry the locals. The penguins were great we have hundreds of pictures which I will upload when we get them on disc. Lots of babies covered in fluff. You can walk really close to them and although you have to keep to the path they sit in the middle of it and look at you expectantly or waddle across in front of you. I have to say they are quite noisy and very smelly. From here we travelled Gaiman, the guidebook had promised authentic Welsh ...

Walking with the Pinguins

The Journey Continues......

... looking round that area. A few blocks from San Telmo is the district of Puerto Madero, which is the old Docklands area and has been re-generated in the past few years, and is now a fashionable area with Shops, Bars, Hotels and Apartments - There is a lot of re-generation taking place in Buenos Aires at the moment (Somewhere for Sophie to think about after University) and the new architecture really fits in well with the old. Its a nice area to walk ...

... te. L'he tastat vàries vegades i no m'ha convençut.

Penguins, whales, seals, and Thanksgiving!

... penguins. However, they only had manual cars available and she didn`t know how to drive one. Seeing as we were too late for a tour that day we decided to join her. It was quite an adventure as I don`t have a driver`s license (was in my wallet that got stolen in Ecuador), Katie´s drivers license expired, and Jewel didn`t know how to drive a manual but did have a valid driver`s license. So we booked the car under her name and all headed off to Punto ...
