... got to keep the fire stoked in these conditions.
A little further down the road just as I am starting to fly I notice a red light, water temperature!
After some investigation, topped up the water, but it didn't need any and a poke about, I was not convinced there was a temperature problem. It had not boiled up into the expansion tank and the cooling fan which is on the same level but a ...
... to bring the car back by 9am so we woke up pretty early. Filled the car with gas, managed to find where the rental car place is and returned the car. This is when the guy asked me for my credit car which i realised i forgot at HOME! So I had to walk 6kms back home to get said card and then back to the rental car place. UGH.. We went for pizza with Juan at our favorite pizza place that is so cheap its practically free. Then we ...
Mendoza, Cuyo, Argentina vino_voyageurs... over the place, finally squeezing between a gap in the taxis (they quickly closed the gap afterwards) and were on our way south. Off in the distance to the west were snow-capped volcanoes and mountains and in the foreground were beautiful vineyards and farmland. Once we reached the junction with Ruta 7, we set out due west to see the high peaks. We passed by lakes, dry red rock canyons cut by low water rivers and streams and eventually ...
Mendoza, Argentina chiapoe... a helmet, life jacket, a floating toboggan looking thing, and a few loose circuits in the brain. So with the above equipment you jump into class I-III rapids and run them yourself. No formal training on which lines in the river to take. It sounded like an amazing experience it was reasonably priced, I just couldn't get up early enough to give it a go. Maybe if i pass back through Mendoza I´ll give it a whirl. Definitely something you cant do in the USA!
Goed, genoeg Argentijnse wijnles. Het was tijd geworden om een andere ...
Mendoza, Cuyo, Argentina heinlisenka... I managed to stay on the boat.. we were all being thrown around but every time I lost my grip I would fly into the middle of the boat rather than out! After the crazy day of harassment and rafting we drank a lot of beer and passed out. The following day we checked out more of Mendoza with the Irish. That night we said our good byes and had to catch a bus to Iguazu Falls. This would be a 38 hours Journey!
In the afternoon we went for a tasting tour. We started with a small wine producer. We visited the vineyards and the rooms with the various machines to produce the wine. They prick the grapes around March, April (Southern hemisphere!). And all the production goes to the US. The owner also made a special wine for the wedding of his daughter but this one was not for tasting unfortunately. The other ...
... of wine! A fascinating winery steeped in history. We didn't have anything planned for the next day so we slept in and had a late breakfast. There are various wineries within walking distance of our lodge but they only accept visitors by appointment so we tried to make some appointments but, believe it or not, they were all full. I guess visiting wineries is a favourite activity of the Mendocinos on a Saturday afternoon. We then decided to go for a walk around the village ...
