... Having rejected one possibility right next to the toilet block we quickly discovered why our choice was unoccupied. The jockey wheel disappeared into soft sand as we used the mover to position the caravan, but we were saved from disaster by a German couple who helped us to extricate ourselves and settle the caravan on solid ground. They had a very nice living wagon that they had taken three weeks to tow from ...

I arrived in Faro early in the day, located the nearest internet cafe and sent out a flurry of requests to both Couch Surfing and WWOOFing hosts. I wander the streets, hoping to accidentally find the youth ...

... about the Qantas, Jetstar or Virgin Blue self check in system. Unlike BA, if you were booked to fly together then generally when you go to check yourself in all call up your booking, the person that your are travelling with also appears. But at BA, the idea seems to be if you don't go and start checking in 24 hours before your departure, then they will allocate you seats at random, so not taking into account that you are travelling with your significant other and may ...
Faro, Algarve, Portugal pat_n_melNo trip to Portugal would be complete without a trip to the Algarve. Its reputation as Portugal's Costa Del Sol does it no favours and we've been deliberating for ages to see if we can get some beach time without the socks and sandals brigade, Sky Sports, bacon and eggs and News of the World. That said, the Algarve offers mile upon mile of beautiful coastline dotted with countless beautiful beaches and this is tempting ,for one of us at least.

... discovering a gem of a local restuarant with amazing bbq chicken. 6 euro for dinner!!
The next day to fill in time before departing we looked at the Chapel of Bones, which was built from the bones of the monks from the local cemetary. Over 1200 skulls. Definite goosebumps eh!
... they were shouting at us for not giving them money, but we don't, so it's all good!) and headed inside to one of the most gilded churches we have ever seen. In a little courtyard outside we found the Capela Dos Ossos, a chapel decorated with the bones of 1245 monks who worked and lived at the church. One of the strangest aspects of the eerie place was that it backed onto a children's playground, and two little boys stood on tiptoes to peer through the ...
Faro, Algarve, Portugal dangabesisaak... in Portugal and very tasty too. I realized after talking to some of the locals, that most people are more comfortable speaking English than Spanish. Wolf was kind of shocked, being their next door neighbor and all, and refused to believe that English was more universal haha. The next day, Sunday, we got up early and drove some more to the western tip of Portugal - Sagres and Cabo de Sao Vicente. Sagres is the actual town, but Cabo de Sao Vicente is a cape a ...
Faro, Portugal laura.tagatac... over touristed if it tried. As our Lonely planet book says it sold its sole to mass tourism back in the 60's. We thought we would give it a try anyways. It has different areas of holiday apartments and hotels clumped together, in the old town there are many hotels as well. The place is so loaded with British tourists you would think you were in a warmer version of England. The weird thing is everyone from Britain visiting this area seems to have brought a baby with them, there are ...
Faro, Portugal audreyandjack... the castle that looked good, so in I went. I was told to sit anywhere and the old man working there brought me over a menu apologizing for the fact that it wasn´t in English, but that he would help me to translate. A few minutes later he read me off the menu and I ordered some Prawns and some wine, as you should in Portugal. What a messy job that was, but they were good. Then after I was finished and wanted to pay the bill, he nicely opened up a bottle of port and poured me ...
