Metal grinding against metal, a hideous painful screech from the engine. It sounded agonising and there was no question in our minds, there was something atrociously wrong with our van! Catastrophic clutch failure diagnosed the garage. Señor Arthur tested the van on the garage forecourt and grimaced each time he changed gear and the engine …

On Thursday morning we were on the road northwards shortly after 8.30am - earlier than planned. Due to the steep driveway out of the Camping Pelinos 77, we had taken Remy up on his offer of a tow out but he had overlooked that he had a hospital appointment later in the day, and was knocking on the door at 7.30am to apologise, so it would need to be sooner rather than later. We've seen lots of eucalypts on the side of the road in plantations, mostly blue gums, ...

We drove 50 mins to Sátão from Viseu after restocking for the weekend at the supermarket. A gourmet weekend was in order and it's not disappointed one bit. Hand peeled prawns in garlic, olive oil and chorizos, traditional Portuguese rolled pork with a local stuffing smothered in onions, pepper, salt and pepper seasonings, large fish kebabs, aubergine & halloumi parcels, cocktails shaken!!! It's all too much holiday fun... Time to travel Monday ...
