    ... walked downtown then crossed the river again and this time Tom was able to get the photos he wanted. We then had lunch at the café at the Guggenheim before exploring the city some more. Yet another early night but we are both slowly getting better.

    Bilbao is an amazing place. Nearly all the buildings, bridges, trams, lighting. etc. have a sculptural feel to them.

    ... not the cafes and gelaterias!
    I went to two gelato places! I tried a whole bunch of exotic flavors to add to
    my list. I had Crema Catalina, Donuts (it tasted just like donuts!), Salmon
    (blegh!), Bubblegum, Mojitos, Waffles with chocolate, Rose Pedals with
    Cinnamon, Violets (the flower), Coca Cola & Red wine, and the last two,
    Squid ink and Foie Gras were the two most repulsive flavors I have ever tasted.
    But at least now I can include them on my list! ...

    ... at the end of the tour was the main highlight, though--we really enjoy Rioja wine. Since we weren't staying at the extravagant hotel, we had to get back in our car and leave the beautiful winery. We drove two hours up from the winery's valley, through the mountains, and then dropped, quickly, to sea level and our next destination.
