... We had a walk around the island and saw what the prisoners would have seen. It was interesting the number of people that lived on the island related to the prison but not in prison. It was also impressive just how picturesque the view from the exercise area was - and surely a bittersweet experience for the prisoners.

... and South Twin Peaks are about 660 feet apart and form a divide for the summer coastal fog pushed in from the Pacific Ocean. Each peak has its own name: Eureka Peak/North Peak and Noe Peak/South Peak, then 70 feet below the Eureka/North Peak is the vista point known as 'Christmas Tree Point' that has views of San Francisco and San Francisco Bay. That is the peak we climbed up and from there we could see the bridge in the distance riding out of the fog.

This morning we got up early to get ready for our journey to San Francisco for the Alcatraz trip. We grabbed a quick breakfast and headed to Dock 33 where we boarded the boat for the island. ... We decided to hire some bikes and do the classic cycle over the Golden Gate bridge. It wasn't far but had more uphill than I thought it would so was quite a work out. We stopped at some points for photos and enjoyed the views. It was so so windy riding over the bridge. ... significant earthquake. The authorities couldn't get the sea lions to go, so have embraced them and provided the pontoons. Prior to that sea lions were climbing into small boats and sinking them with their weight. We waited for 30 minutes or more at family style restaurant we decided to eat at. we sat outside listening to a group doing well known pop songs. The meals were large.
