The day turned on beautiful weather with a clear sky and a nip in the air. We were able to walk out to the end of the breakwater on the left and the one on the right which has two light sources on it. The waves were breaking on the lighthouse breakwater and the surf rolled into the shore. A person in a kayak was out in the waves enjoying the ride and later two people on stand-up jet skis came and rode the waves jumping high in the air ...
... Information centre at Shipshewana where there were a number of quilts on display. They also has some quilt block patterns painted on the building. Next door at the Yoder hardware and department store, more blocks were painted on the building. In the car park, next to where the cars were parked, there was a section with hitching rails where about 6 horses and buggies were tied up.

Headed out from the park on highway 80 heading towards South Bend. At Ottawa (Illinois) we spent some time trying to find lunch. Walmart had not bread rolls and in the end we bought salads from Kroger which we ate beside the Illinois River.

We left Dummerston and took a scenic highway. The hills were finally showing some of the famous color we were told about. We stopped at a high viewpoint on Hogback Mountain and we could see the colorful hills stretching off for miles. We were so glad we took the slow scenic route today. Since it was Sunday we planned to attend church, then see another of Ted's projects and hit the road. We planned it out on the train ride home and had a few choices 9:00am, 10:30am and 1:30pm.
