Today was our first full day of exploring Helsinki and we headed out after a bit of a sleep in....the sun gets up so late here.....made worse by the fact it is the shortest day of the year here! We a headed out at 9:30 in dawn light to catch the tram to the ferry wharf. The other highlight of Helsinki was the Design Museum. Despite the fact that only half the exhibition was on display, the history of Finnish design is amazing.
We said goodbye to the herring festival and caught the plane for the three hour flight to Rome. More about our stay in the Trastevere in the next post. L.
