... one time. They really hate Sweden in athletics. They do not have to win as long as Sweden looses. Another city claiming to be the Venice of the north. There are no skyscrapers here. There may as many stories underground as above. We toured the highlights and went into the country side to a 14th century town, Porvoo. This has an old town that is mostly wooden house. It seems everywhere we go the towns burned down and rebuilt over the centuries. ...

We decided that we’d get off at the ROCK CHURCH and then walk the rest of this small city that housed 450,000 Helsinkian’s. Because it’s not a big city, this can be covered off pretty quickly. You can easily see that this city was a favorite of the SPB crowd for vacations as there are so many similarities to the buildings and infrastructure here in this Finnish capital.

... looked like a log cabin from an old timber camp. The boys had fried herring while Kelly and I had arctic char and wild salmon. At the Scandic Marski I was told I wasn't entitled to a kettle in our room as we had not paid for the superior deluxe room - Sheer luxury.
