... was happily conversing with the locals armed with my formidable 8 word vocabulary. The sun picked up and we headed over to the eastern part if the city to have lunch. After quite an expedition we came across a very welcome restaurant (popular wedding venue) on a small peninsula. We ordered a pea risotto and a lightly smoked (at the restaurant) salmon dish. ... buildings that are now restaurants or cafés, and 6 museums. 800 people actually live there full time. Found a cafe open, had coffee and walked around until the visitor centre and museum opened. Excellent movie on the history of the fort, that was built by the Swedes in 1748 and has been Russian and then Finnish in its life. Looked at the dry dock, once important in building warships and now somewhat dilapidated ...

Back to our restaurant for our normal dinner. One couple didn’t make
it as they weren’t feeling too good. Place got her birthday cake and all the
waiters sang happy birthday.

Had to put our clocks back another hour so we didn’t stay up too
late.

Arrived at Helsinki about 45 minutes late this morning due to a thick
fog which didn’t lift until about 11.30, so didn’t see anything sailing ...
