... Eoin and I were a little underwhelmed by the site – most of the houses have been converted into souvenir shops or restaurants and modern cars line the streets which does nothing for recreating the 19th century ambience.

However, we had enjoyed travelling outside of the dirty city of Montevideo and seeing something of the lush green countryside of Uruguay before heading the following day to Argentina and a two day visit to Buenos Aires.
