    Praia do Madeiro II

Today would be our last day in Pipa. We'd loved Praia do Madeiro so much that we decided to go back there. By 10:25 we'd settled into exactly the same loungers that we'd vacated the evening before. I couldn't accept being so clueless in the surf yesterday afternoon so decided on a second lesson. Sid said she wanted to join me so we went in search of Jonathan. He wasn't available for an hour or so so Do and Annick took two boards and I went out into the surf with them to give them a ...

... it was possible, I now had had even less success. It was just all one big battle with my board and the waves. Bruised and battered I gratefully retired. Clearly there was more to this surfing than meets the eye! We stayed on the beach enjoying a couple of the now mandatory Caipirinhas until the sun went down and then taxied back to the hotel to tidy ourselves up before dinner. We had a lovely evening in Pipa. Being a Friday night it was really busy ...

... came up for air. It was quite amusing to watch the canoe float out there waiting to spot a Dolphin, and then when they did there was a frantic paddling to get across to where the Dolphin had shown itself, only for it to disappear again. Numerous times I saw the Dolphins come up behind the canoe, out of sight, almost as if they were playing hide and seek. The girls did get some good sightings though. After a while I swapped with Annick and ...

... boards. We also braved the water. It was deliciously warm, but the waves were tumultuous - breaking every which way in a haphazard fashion. They were strong and fiesty and we all got zapped a couple of times as we jumped, dived and generally cavorted in the surf. It was great fun though. At around 15:00 we climbed the stairs at the back of the beach and strolled back through town to our Pousada. It was time to get fit! We knew that it would be ...

... from another guy before getting out of the sun with lunchtime approaching. We set off into town around 1200 and after a half hour walk we found a small shopping centre where we looked for some food. Not much luck in the food department with no supermarket there and could not find one close, so we ducked into a buffet self service churasco where you are charged per 100g of food you eat. We were pretty tame on the food and didn't go ...
