    Praia do Madeiro II

Today would be our last day in Pipa. We'd loved Praia do Madeiro so much that we decided to go back there. By 10:25 we'd settled into exactly the same loungers that we'd vacated the evening before. I couldn't accept being so clueless in the surf yesterday afternoon so decided on a second lesson. Sid said she wanted to join me so we went in search of Jonathan. He wasn't available for an hour or so so Do and Annick took two boards and I went out into the surf with them to give them a ...

... It was great fun. But, that paddling back out to where Jonathan waited for us in the surf was hard work and certainly strained muscles that I didn't know I had! After a bit of a rest we tried again, this time without Johnathan's help. It turned out that him choosing the right wave and giving us a helpful push was essential for us beginner surfers. Left to our own devices we had no chance and all had zero success in catching a ...

... Much more so than in Rio. As with most things you get the good, the bad and the ugly and when it's bad and ugly it really is a pretty horrible sight, but when it's good...oooh la la! At 13:00 we had to beat a retreat from the Baia as the tide started to rise. We ended up back at a restaurant overlooking the water and sat with the tide coming in right under our feet. Not fully understanding the menu we managed to totally overorder by ...

... one had to keep an eye on the timing of the tides as it would be dangerous to be caught out with no way back. Each beach is different. Centro is the main beach, whilst Golfinhos is home to resident dolphins and turtles offering a unique chance to swim with them. Praia do Amor is a beautiful long beach of soft white sand but very rough surf, perfect for the experienced surf boys (and girls). Praia do Madiero was more protected and thus had a gentle ...

    Long transit day to Natal

A travel blog entry by tnanoble on May 26, 2015

... We finally arrived in Natal at around 2130 and jumped straight into a taxi to make the trip to our place down at Ponta Negra. It took about 15mins and we arrived at our hostel just before 2200. We showered and admired the place we were in and how nice it was considering the price we paid. So much cheaper than our tiny place in Fortaleza and so much nicer with our own bathroom, fridge and microwave. We crashed out not after realising the TV in the room had no English channels ...
