... to make a birthday cake for Col (they will also make a small GF cake for Bron), will be a nice surprise for Col. Then it will be back to our rooms & bed. ... chicks, all being watched over by the farmer and his/her dog! Buyers armed with cartons or wooden crates haggled over the feathered friends, and when a sale was made the hapless bird was unceremoniously gripped by its leg and tossed into his new home...quelle un surprise! It was fascinating to watch this trade take place, probably unchanged over the span of centuries!

... experience this turned out to be, we headed into the Information centre to find somewhere to stay, the 1st place was booked so she rang another that was just out of town and WOW, this couple were wonderful, their friend turned up and he was a wine maker and they insisted we try his wine with them – one thing lead to another and we were then having a visit to his wine cave ...

... we went to his Cave and were tasting a 1986 wine which was incredible!!!! Much discussion about his wines and what years were the best which George was able to quote off the top of his head! he then showed us the area where he makes his wine followed by our purchase of 6 bottles.
2011 for 5 Euro 2009 for 6 euro and 1993 for 10 euro amazing prices. Said our farewells after discussing the return to pick next year LOL.

Macon to Chalon-sur-Saone

We are now on the Saone River, moored at Macon. At 9am we board a bus to visit Chateau Cormatin. Along the way we pass through some beautiful countryside and villages, stop to view the roman cathedral at St Martin. The chateau is beautiful, with lovely gardens and a moat. We bus back to Tournon, where the boat has now moved. After lunch, I join Jean-Loup and some ...
