On my last evening in Saumur I ended up socialising at a couple of other motorhomes and didn't get back to my van until around midnight. Then it was very hot and the upshot was a disturbed night's sleep which meant I didn't feel too wonderful the next morning. Thankfully the drive to Rochefort en Terre was fairly short because I struggled to concentrate and I was very aware that I was potentially dangerous. I then struggled to ...

Two of the guys were very keen to ride and we're hoping that the weather would improve and the rest of us were happy to be driven for the remainder of the day. So that's what happened. And we're only had 5kms added to the day. ...

... in the park near the mill, which was wonderful and included some left over wine from last night. And goat cheese flavoured chips! Weirdest things, and only in France. Another 20kms or so on the bike, it's now very hot and we did a fair bit of riding along some busy roads. Our next stop was a cider maker where we watched a film about how they used to make cider and how they do it now - again in French but we managed to get the gist. Then ...

... 55kms for the day! Well done us. After a freshen up, Rob and I are out on foot to explore the village. It really is lovely. ( I know I keep saying that.) along the canal de midi, the houses mostly looked unkempt, few gardens and while quaint, the older parts of town looked a bit worn. Albert, our host at Argen Minervois, told us that the French don't much care for the way their houses look on the outside. Brittany, at ...
