Well,
I'm packing. Finally- With completing papers, assignments, etc., for finals with this semester, and getting things in place with Adam and Ellie while I'm gone, it's been a hectic few weeks! I must say that I'm looking at the trip with bittersweet expectations. I'm certain this will be life and career altering, however, I'm not looking ...
Hello Friends!
I have a massive bag packed, a carry on waiting for the last few items to be put in and all my gadgets charging as I prepare for a full 24 hours of travel time starting on Friday. I am very excited as I prepare for this new adventure. Many of my friends have asked that I keep them in the loop while I travel, so friends I have set up this blog. I hope to spend about 15 minutes a day sharing ...
The Udvar-Hazey Center is an extension of the Smithsonian's Air and Space museum and was 3-miles away from our location and located right beside Dulles Airport. The center is "free" with a $15 parking fee. On this particular day the center was having a family day entitled "Learn to be a Pilot", which was geared for children.
We had planned to get there around 10:30Am (it opened at 10 AM), but that did not happen. Don and I looked at ...
Centreville, Virginia, United States nataschaOctober 19, 2008 We drove a long way to Cox Farm. It took 2-3 hours to get there. If we were in Thomas Jefferson's time, it would have taken 2-3 days by horse. Cox Farm was an extraordinary experience of a fall festival in Virginia. They had hay rides, slides, cow milking show with Farmer Jack, cow milking, rope swing, corn field maze and many pumpkins of different sizes including the state winning pumpkin. The hay ride was kind of funny looking. It ...
Centreville, Virginia, United States hms_travel... by someone else's actions, and not hers. Whatever. So we finally got to the airport, on the plane, etc, in coach for 9 freakin hours. My strategy of watching 5 episodes of Greys' the night before and getting in 3 hours of sleep paid off b/c i was able to pass out cold on the plane for like 5 hours straight, and actually feel like it was morning when we finally landed in Rome at 7:30 am. I'm no dummy, I know what it takes to be a serious traveler!
Washington DC, District of Columbia, United States hokiechoeyvtHey all, Well I managed to arrive here safely, got in about 10pm last night to the camp, which is 3am UK time. I've only been here one day but it seems like ages since I've seen you all!! Found out I'm the only archery instructor on Camp but my department are an awesome group of people. The Camp is beautiful, although I have curly hair already!!! Just having our pre-camp training day today, about to go ...

Big mistake....the salad came in a bowl which appeared to be a baptismal font stolen from a local church and was filled with a mix of the usual with olives and stuffed vine leaves along with a rich blue cheese dressing. The margherita would hve kept a group of navvies filled for a week! I'm now back in my room thinking I might join the resident bar flies downstairs for a nightcap, but only after the feast has worked it's way through!
Newark, New Jersey, United States mihangel... line and the train that arrived was stopping at all stations to Heathrow. I thought maybe they had fixed the landslide situation and decided to risk it. All was fine and I arrived at Heathrow at 13.00 (my flight was 15.35). However the queue was huge! I eventually got to the check in counter at 14.15 and asked for an aisle seat. As I'm diabetic I have to get up and pee quite a lot and also take my medication and I don't like having to climb over people (I'm sure they don't ...
New York, New York, United States tokyo_cate... Hall was sealed off behind a block's worth of steel barricades, chainlink fences, metal detectors, armed guards, and security search checkpoints. I couldn't help thinking that if Ben Franklin wasn't already dead, this foul display would surely have driven him to the grave, or at least back over to France and into the welcoming arms of some big-bosomed French woman in a towering powdered wig. "I bet he would have enjoyed that museum, though," Ellie said by way of attempting to soothe my displeasure.
