Well,
I'm packing. Finally- With completing papers, assignments, etc., for finals with this semester, and getting things in place with Adam and Ellie while I'm gone, it's been a hectic few weeks! I must say that I'm looking at the trip with bittersweet expectations. I'm certain this will be life and career altering, however, I'm not looking ...
Centreville, Virginia, United States lstockwellHello Friends!

I have a massive bag packed, a carry on waiting for the last few items to be put in and all my gadgets charging as I prepare for a full 24 hours of travel time starting on Friday. I am very excited as I prepare for this new adventure. Many of my friends have asked that I keep them in the loop while I travel, so friends I have set up this blog. I hope to spend about 15 minutes a day sharing ...
Centreville, Virginia, United States shonyel_16The Udvar-Hazey Center is an extension of the Smithsonian's Air and Space museum and was 3-miles away from our location and located right beside Dulles Airport. The center is "free" with a $15 parking fee. On this particular day the center was having a family day entitled "Learn to be a Pilot", which was geared for children.

We had planned to get there around 10:30Am (it opened at 10 AM), but that did not happen. Don and I looked at ...
Centreville, Virginia, United States nataschaOctober 19, 2008 We drove a long way to Cox Farm. It took 2-3 hours to get there. If we were in Thomas Jefferson's time, it would have taken 2-3 days by horse. Cox Farm was an extraordinary experience of a fall festival in Virginia. They had hay rides, slides, cow milking show with Farmer Jack, cow milking, rope swing, corn field maze and many pumpkins of different sizes including the state winning pumpkin. The hay ride was kind of funny looking. It ...
Centreville, Virginia, United States hms_travel... fan of locking people up because it seems to just make the whole situation worse but visiting Juvi was an interesting experience. When you see a bunch of 10-14yr olds that are sleeping in these cells the size of maybe three bathtubs you have to think, What is wrong with this picture? One of the kids even asked me, what are you doing here? Did you want to see what a criminal looks like? If this kid at probably 13 is already idenitfying himself as a criminal, is it any surprise that ...
Washington, District of Columbia, United States kbort... They wouldn't let me store my luggage at Penn Station because I didn't have a train ticket for later on, but it's fine with me because now I don't have to go back there to pick up my backpack. Carrying about 45 pounds on my back is a little hard, but not that big a deal. I made it to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, and 5th Avenue so far. I think I'll leave the World Trade Center site for when I'm through here on my way back home. My flight ...
New York, New York, United States pmckenna... woman was singing and dancing and telling stories about spring. The bus took us to the Capitol Hill. Aides from Representative Abercrombie Office took us on a tour. Congressman Abercrombie met us. He was presenting a bill about Native Hawaiian Housing. We saw him later speaking in the House. Congresswoman Mazie Hirono also spoke on that topic. Ashley was snoozing through ...
Washington, District of Columbia, United States hms_travel... peaceful and relaxing at the same time. I came out at the back of the gardens on to Constitution Avenue, right opposite the National Archives. I continued down here, passing the Justice Department and heading up towards Pennysylvania Avenue. I stopped at the Old Post Office, a building now transformed into a small food court and shopping mall. I indulged in a Mango Smoothie (I was baking by this time) and headed up the tower - fortunately there were lifts for this ...
Washington, District of Columbia, United States loxias... lesbian aunts' apartment. The problem was though which we didn't really realize often enough was that DC is a very confusing city and the fact that we got lost every time we got in the car is really quite an achievement. So we did some quick grocery shopping then waited in the carpark outside of Starbucks regaling one another with wild tales of youth and young manhood. Until at the stroke of 11pm there emerged our host to be. We quickly introduced ourselves and followed her back ...
