Handicapped Parking Only

Today, we set up a show at George Crothers School in Swarthmore, PA. We received a note ahead of time that said there would be buses in the way of our entry, so we didn't need to bother with getting there too early. Unfortunately, we only read that note on our way to the school. So, sure enough, we got there when there was a whole line of buses lining the sidewalk. Interestingly, there were dozens of handicap vans parked along the curb, too. I can understand a ...

Rocky, Rocky, Rocky!

... went to the Benjamin Franklin Institue and the exhibit was Body Works 2. I have been wanting to see that for a long time, so i figured this was the place to do it in. It was incredible. It showed real humans being pulled apart and you can see each muscle, bone, blood cells, ligaments, heart, liver, and so much more. The cool thing about it is that they are real bodies, not fake or plastic. It was nuts. Unfortunately, I couldn't take pictures, they didnt let ...

The Hagley Museum

October 29, 2009

Today's outing is to the Hagley Museum, the site of the first DuPont black powder works along Delaware’s Brandywine River. My memories of the Hagley are from a springtime visit 25 years ago when the dogwoods were in full bloom and they totally enchanted me; today it is colors of autumn.

In the powder yard stone mills and storehouses recall a time when water power was the source of energy. Working in Philly

I just spent a month in Philly for a project. Since work and travelling ate up most my time, I didn't get to see very much of this city. My favorite restaurant here is a restaurant called Beau Monde (http://creperie-beaumonde.com/) which makes Breton-style crepes that are the best I've had outside of France ...

And relax........

... game and met up with some of the guys from the Nova camp and a good afternoon of drinking and baseball was had by all - we even managed to bag ourselves a game ball. We had a great last night in Cherry Hill with a few friends coming round for dinner where everyone got involved with cooking a course and great food was had by all. Then it was an early get up for a day from hell of traveling to NZ but was fully worth it.

The End

... all of my pictures from South America (I think there will be a lot...). If you're interested in taking a look at them, send me an email and I'll send you the links. Not sure right now what exactly lies ahead for me, but now that I'm back in the States, I hope to see or hear from many of you soon (by the way, my cell phone number is still the same as it was before I left). Thanks for reading the blog and for the comments and emails while I was away. Hasta luego, Alex

Preflight - Zero hour, 4pm

... got me thinking about what I would write in those blanks regarding my life, and my answers weren't very exciting. Another reason was seeing how great the backpacker lifestyle can be. There are probably as many Brits, Aussies, and Israelis in their twenties roaming the world as there are Brits, Aussies, and Israelis in their home countries. In their cultures, they see the value of traveling and it's a must-do; in ours, many ...

Back in the US

... all enjoyed reading the blog over the past two months. I had fun doing it, even thought I'd never really done any kind of blog before. I think I'll do the same when I head to South America (September 5th). I don't have my pictures uploaded yet, but there are many more than those that I posted on the blog, so if you are interested in seeing them, please shoot me a quick email and I'll pass along the link when they're ready. Thanks for reading! Alex

Start of our Adventure!

... Orleans Spring Break 2000 with these guys and Jeff and Vin, I have been on 3 other summer road trips. I will be useful for making fun of bad or good situations and for being the one for Keith and Brett to make fun of. 2:02 - Delaware Memorial Bridge. $3?! ****ing toll increase. Brett made a good move over to the next lane. Prompts to him. Those of you who were on the Myrtle Beach Trip would understand. Those of you who weren't can only wonder. I HATE BUMPS!
