... on the beach, more swimmers came and went, I tried the toe test! It feels far too cold for swimming, just a paddle was enough! The beach cafes are open and the one closest to us has a group of Brits enjoying the sun and coffee. The drive to Georgioupoli is only 5 minutes, we drove around to the harbour, we hadn't been there long before a gaggle of geese arrived, they were very noisy! Next a tatty car that was also very noisy came speeding along the track, the driver was pulling hand brake turns, what a racket! ... place. We drove around some if the local villages increasing our property portfolio with villas for sale with sea and snow topped mountain views, before getting on the national road to Rethymno. We parked in the same spot as on our last visit and walked into the centre. In the more modern part of tiwn there is carols playing through a loud speaker system, a warm sunny day and there are lots if people wandering around and enjoying ...
... closed. We drove the length of the waterfront to the harbour and then turned around to drive back. The river which runs into the sea here is still in flood, there is a ford over it to get to the end of the village, there is also some walks signposted but we are not going to risk crossing it.
We drove back out of the village for a couple of miles and found a place to park up, as we arrived so did a herd of goats, they stood looking ...
... one if those that you never tire of looking at. Life is very easy here, we don't have to think about anything, where to stay, have we enough power in the batteries, where to get water from, on the other hand everywhere you drive to to visit you have to do a return journey.
Tomorrow we're back on the road, so we packed some things up ready to load back into Dream ...
