      11/11 Corfu

We left the ship late and spent some time using the Port's free wifi. We were heading to the bus stop to take a bus into town when we ran into an enterprising taxi driver. He was waiting at the bus stop instead of in the line of taxis looking for €100 fares to tour the island. He offered us a €10 trip to the historic district and the same back. We found ...

So we encountered our dining mates in the buffet. Day 3 we met another couple who brought our table up to 6. The waiter says he will give us more people.

We spent a couple of very interesting hours in both the house and the gardens and admiring the spectacular views. Did I mention that ...

... to Italian churches. We then drove to Achilleion Palace which has beautiful gardens and classical statues overlooking the coast. This was built by and Austrian empress in the late 1800s - and it really was very beautiful. During the war it was used as a hospital and later as an orphanage before it was restored for tourists to view. We drove through the main town and by this stage it was so wet we decided to return to the ship and warm up and have ...
