... a nice drive and we found free parking which is always a bonus. Walked into the lovely old town, see pictures, then we heard trumpets start, so we headed to the Piazza and drums beat, trumpets sounded from the band and all the men in coloured outfits and flags arrived, we were treated to half an hour of a fantastic spectacle. We got ready, woke Luca up who was still snoozing and headed out for a quick breakfast before leaving. As we were heading out of the mountains most of the roads were quite windy. Both Luca and Brodie were complaining of not feeling to well, and then about an hour into the drive, my worst nightmare, Luca threw up, all over himself ...

... and only German is spoken in the inn. It's only when we find out more about the history of this part of the world that we understand. The South Tyrol was Italy's prize for being on the right side in WW1 and then, twenty years later, Mussolini forced Hitler to agree to compulsory population exchanges (in order to boost the Italian-speaking minority) as his price of silence about the Anschluss. Apparently each successive ...
