... Kaunertal, which is actually just the name of the glacier. We made our way to our hostel, and found out we were actually in an apartment-like room! We had our own kitchen, living room area, and we even had a balcony that overlooked the town and the mountains in the background! It was fabulous. (Or just fab as Rachel would say!) We settled in nicely and set out to find a little supermarket so that we could make our own food. By this point, while ...

Twice over Stelvio in one day

On a number of occasions I had to kill the engine and get my feet down and simply use the rear wheel as braking and control it by use of the clutch and just edge along at very slow speed. There is snow all around us but the roads are clear. It is a really picturesque area, not much to do except admire the scenery. We checked into the Hotel and went for a long walk, the Hotel has a restaurant so we will have dinner there. Stayed in our room and played scrabble ...

It was all about the scenery as we spent our last week in Italy in the Dolomites and the Lakes Region.

As we headed north from Bologna, the landscape changed and by the time we arrived in Bolzano (also known as Bozen) we were surrounded by craggy mountains and stunning views. Our hotel was right on the town square which gave us a great view of the hills and mountains. The next day we took cable car, then a ...

They watch very closely what you eat here !

A travel blog entry by daleville on Sep 06, 2014

... awayfrom the buffet table the elderly owner approached me and informed me " this is not for picnic" ! My reply should have been 'Just watch me eat it now'. We could have taken offence at this but instead we both had a good laugh at this over the next few days as we passed this hotel quite a few times.

We left this hotel after two ...
