... and we found ourselves in the hall staring at our closed door.. which was slightly harder to pick. In fact after 2 hours we realised it was impossible. Not only had we waited in the hall, fully expecting to have to sleep there, for 2 hours, but we managed to completely demolish the handle on the door and were no closer to getting in. ... seafood meal at Yellowfin restaurant, the Moreton Bay Bugs (like small Crayfish) were fantastic. The cocktails weren't bad either! :-) We managed to find the Casino....which is always a bit of dangerous thing after a night out. We didn't win anything but had enough money for a taxi home!! Seaworld was one of the reasons why we stayed in Surfers Paradise, weather was sunny so this would be the perfect day. We drove to the spit and started a monorail tour of the area in order to see what attractions there was. The touch pool was fun, there one could touch sea cucumbers, seastars and many other submarine animals. There was also a small copy of the great barrier reef, where it was also possible to go and snorkle, but that required prebooking ...

... 15 it was eventually time to board the plane and unfortunally we were fairly close to the back as we usually are. At 11.40 we finally hit the runway and had a smooth take off, with the seatbelt sign going off fairly early. The flight seemed to go on and on, even though it was only a 2 hour flight it seemed to take much longer. The plane landed at 12.50 Queensland time really smoothly after a fantastic flight with very little turbulance ...

... a 2 minute walk to the Holiday Inn. Anyway today we are going to the Carrara Markets and Harbortown and then tonight we are going to the Australian Outback Spectacular. In between I might see the other 2 V8 races on the box!! which really is the best way to actually follow the race, especially with all the other distractions going on on all the balconys about you at the track!! After that I reckon we are Surfers Paradised out!!

On Tuesday the 24th of April i just went to the beach and was going to have a quiet night in front of the TV, but Wouter wanted to go out with the group from the hostel. It seems that most hostels in Surfers Paradise organise pub crawls every night. And tonight we were going to join. We left the hostel at around 8pm and was led to a bar where the beers were only $1 and the spirits were $2. The cheapest bar I have ever been in ...

And I think too, with it being Christmas and all, I'm a little homesick and I'm missing things like the snow and shopping with friends and being around family. At the end of the evening Marlene showed us around the house, which is nearing the completion of its renovation. We were returned to Surfer's by Sarah, who dropped us at the IGA a few short blocks from the apartments so that we could buy a little extra milk and washing up supplies. We were thoroughly enjoying our trip and were dismayed by the fact that we were now halfway through!
