While the ancient sites were incredible, I can't talk about Athens without mentioning the food. We all fell in love with the olive oil, greek salads, souvlaki (roasted meats), moussaka (layers of meat, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, etc.), stuffed peppers and more. Jus packed our bags last night so all we had to do today was shower, have breakfast and wait for the taxi to collect us at 10.30am so I took the opportunity to have another play with Erico for a little while. Antonia (Antonio's wife), was downstairs at Tony's car and moto ...

... time we travel, we build connections - no matter how small or seemingly ephemeral - with ordinary people. I am reminded of our travel in Xinjiang, or Occupied Turkestan, five years ago, when we watched a military vehicle full of Chinese soldiers following a Uighur wedding procession. As my thoughts began to judge in anger, Michael spontaneously waved at one of the machine-gun wielding soldiers, and for a brief moment, he let down his guard, smiled, and waved ...
