The owner, Salvatore, was a real character, and insisted we eat lunch when we arrived at 4pm - Nuka had a gamberi pasta (Domenica eating prawns!!!!), Lia a Carbonara, Paolo Vongole and I had a Sicilia pasta - wonderful home cooked food with homemade bread out of Salvatore's pizza oven.     ... sand. I didn't go swimming so we tried looking for shops to get some souvenirs etc. it was mainly eateries and restaurants. Don was feeling like a hamburger so we tried this modern Italian bar/cafe. Bingo they had a hamburger ( meat patty, prosciutto, tomato and lettuce with chips) I had an enormous salad and as a bonus there was beetroot.     ... the way back to town and we waved him farewell. Back to 17-19 Via Secondi Cirilli for photos. The daughter of the neighbour came out Rozzelea who had lived there for 27 years. She started chatting then another lady that Rozzalea knew who had lived in Canada and spoke English joined us. We chatted for over 45 mins and Rozzalea brought us iced tea. ALaura!!     ... a local who kindly drove us to the accommodation. A 2 1/2 hour trip plus stops was 6 hours. We were the only guests and they didn't speak English. So Don again came to the rescue with his Italian. We had dinner early and ordered no carne or peschie for me. Don had the local signature dish of Stocco fish. We ended up with 8 plates of food. I needed up wrapping 7 fritters in serviettes for lunch the next day. They think that if you are vegetarian you will starve so they overfeed ...

    ... lemon tea with milk. Italians make magnificent coffee but tea is a foreign concept. We decided to venture into Ostuni 8 kms away. We had a vision of a small town like Yandina. Think again! It was hectic, busy and parking a logistically nightmare. I used my sign language to ask a shopkeeper if we could park on the street.
