... a tonne of photos but the highlight for me was definitely the Lynx! They were so awesome I could have just watched them for ages! I had no idea their paws were so huge! Anyways that about sums up Montreal. I loved it once we got in but on hindsight I get the feeling their complicated roads may be designed to keep pesky travellers out sorta like the moat to a French castle....I may be onto something there. ... and the weather was sunny although a little chilly. We walked down to the edge of the St Lawrence, along the front to the start of the Lachine Canal. Built to enable ships to pass upstream bypassing the Lachine Rapids it was a major engineering feat.
The canal was enlarged before ships became too big and the canal was replaced in 1959 with the St Lawrence Seaway.

There are a couple of little "uber cool" niches called 'mile end' and 'plateau' though so we decided to wander up through the 'mile end' area and have a look at some of the coffee shops and tree lined neighbourhood streets. It was a really pretty area, somewhere you could easily live.
After our 'mile end' exploration we walked to downtown Montreal. We wandered along the main drag Rue Saint Catherine. It was strange being somewhere that ...
