... Later on Manuel (Argentinian guy) and I climbed Mount Royal, which is the highest point of the city. It was a beautiful clear day so it offered a great view over the city and river. Other than look around town I didn’t do too much more in Montreal. On Friday it was Dawids birthday so we went out for dinner and drinks. At dinner we tried the Canadian dish called Poutine. This is French fries covered with gravy and a curd cheese – it’s a heart attack on a plate, but ...

Now, I mentioned above that Montreal is primarily French speaking. It would appear that I am not. I didn't put anywhere near as much work as I wanted to into my Mandarin last year, but that doesn't stop my thought process going as follows: OK, they are not speaking to me in English, but I can understand what they are saying. Now I need to reply to them, and I shouldn't really reply in English ...

... the troops in that direction. Turns out it was the one on the map that was noted as worth seeing. It was huge, as are most of the churches in Montreal. Montreal is full of churches but I get the distinct feeling that they are mostly empty come mass time. Unfortunately the map lied to me and there was no park next to the church.
