Travel Blogs from Korntal-Münchingen
After all, mainly flat stages, today I approached the Black forest hills.
Starting in Soellingen, it went up immediately, from 100 metres up to 600 close to Ehningen.
From there it went down again through the beautiful Naturpark Schoenbuch.
Nevertheless, despite the climbing activities, the stage today was the longest so far, 106 km.
you have to work hard but it is compensated by the views ...
First of all I would like to appologize for the mistakes in the text! The text editor is sometimes a disaster.
Today I travelled from Weinheim to Soellingen. This place is already a few kilometers on the way to Tuebingen. As it was a planned route of max 70 km it looks like an easy piece !
In fact it went ok the only problem was ...
... during the war. And it's not small with a population of over 123,000. It's on the river Neckar.
P.S. They wouldn't accept a card at "Pasta e Basta" across from the railway station - just as well we used that ATM. For dinner, we decided to stay close to the hotel as so many places weren't opening as it's a Sunday. There was a Greek place that probably did very well - but twice/thrice the price of our 6.50 pizza & calzoni and 3 Euro half litre beer!
While Mum was visiting, we took her to see Ludwigsburg castle, now full of flowers.
It was also full of rather interesting birds, including flamingos! They exist outside of cartoons! Having only seen them in Alice in Wonderland ...
... and our sat nav didn't have any signal so were literally driving around for maybe an hour with no clue as to where we were going.
We ended up driving through a couple of really small villages and some very windy, narrow roads through the forest. Though it was incredibly beautiful, it was certainly a relief when SatNav picked us up and we got ourselves back on track. Luckily we'd been going in the correct direction!
