... the castle, where I stop for coffee. It's very steep and my legs are feeling it. I carry on and eventually come out at tiny little lakeside town. ... 8217;t. They ask something about an appointment (I think; it was in Italian) and I hand over the name of the dentist I was told who worked here and reportedly spoke English.
One of the woman gets a form – standard first admission I guess – and beckons me to follow.
We go downstairs, spiral ones to boot, and she beckons a chair and says something like ‘a moment’.
I wait about 4-5 minutes and she returns, and in English ...
... OMG! This is such an impossibly beautiful place. There is a photo op every second. The lake is gorgeous and the mountains are behind it. I'm so glad I came up here. I've pretty much been everywhere in Italy now that I wanted to go. For dinner I had sliced chicken fillet with a Parmesan cheese sauce with a "hint" of truffle and vegies plus the obligatory wine! I couldn't taste the truffle but it was so nice to have some decent meat. Very nice restaurant ...
Perfect sunny day today so decided to visit more of the towns up the lake.
Caught the bus up to Bellagio where it turned out a Ferrari club was staying. The array of toys in the hotel car park was fairly impressive.
Then took the ferry to a fishing village called Varenna for a look & on to Tremazzo on the opposite side of the lake. There was a pretty swish hotel with a floating pool & lakeside bar. ...
... as much as this meal! When we had the butcher cut the steaks for us, he cut them about a centimetre thick, which of course we don't think of as a steak! And the couple of times we have ordered steak in Italy, it has been skinny like that (put it on the menu as fillet steak with mushrooms say, but more a scallopini).
