Found another great beach to spend some time. We have. Had some technical difficulties so haven't been blogging much. Just golfing and enjoying the sunshine. This really is an amazing place if you love the beach. The food is good in all the restaurants too. Some times the menu is a bit too English for my taste but lots of Local Portuguese fare as well. ... and I went into the local fish market - so many different types and really fresh. Why can't we have this in NZ? We wandered along the backstreets filled with small shops and restaurants; Helen put off buying a very nice leather shoulder bag.

... While we were there they were making fig candies, decorated by hand with slivers of blanched almonds, also from the area. I could pass up the fig candy, but couldn't resist trying out one of the meringues, which was scrumptious. We bought several small boxes of marzipan to bring home as gifts for the family.

Tomorrow we're off to Lisbon to join our fellow passengers on the cruise.

... a table at the Bob Dylan concert with a very nice British couple last night, and had agreed to have dinner together tonight. They drove to a rather plain roadside restaurant about five miles away, and we were able to get a table outside. It was delicious! I had sea bream, that must have been caught today. And lots of Vino Verde, the Portuguese wine I like so much.

As we left town we drove down to the sea to take a look at the production of Fleur de Sel in Tavira. This expensive gourmet salt typically comes from France or Portugal, and represents the 'flower' or salt crystals that float on top of the salt pans, rather than traditional salt which is what is left when the sea water evaporates.
