I am SO excited to finally be going on my long awaited cruise! It's hard to believe that in just a few short weeks I will be sailing along the Western Caribbean on the beautiful Carnival Conquest ship.

On the outskirts of Chicago it started to snow, and didn't stop. In Joliet it let up a little, and we parked to visit the Joliet Museum and get directions to the jail where Elwood picked up Jake. I bought a black hat and matching sunglasses for my middle son Greg, as a sort of joke; he played a Blues Brother at school once. ... entered, we were ready to roll....and we made it all the way to Paw Paw (10 miles!) before we stopped for the first time. The trailer was acting jittery and Tim stopped to check the tires before we got too far down the road. The trailer passed inspection, so we had a quick chat with the camper and asked it to settle down. It complied, and we were able to drive 3 hours without incident. Around 1am (midnight central!) ...

... Here are some honorable mentions from the weekend trips I took:

Most historical: Rome. It's hard to beat for obvious reasons.
Most romantic: Prague (not Paris!) due to the hilly terrain, absence of traffic, uniqueness of the small downtown area, and great architecture.
Most relaxing: Sylt, Germany - though the vacation here was made for this purpose. I had just finished classes and ran off to a resort island to unwind.
