... a sign pointing down an incredibly steep driveway directing us to the Church of Agio Gaya. The "beach" we were seeking was not a beach at all. We had misunderstood the tip given us the night before and had instead driven into the mountains to this amazing church.

Wondering if we would be able to drive back up the driveway (you know, gravity and all) we crept slowly down until we bottomed out and parked our car. Ours was the only one there. Even being at this ...

We had been told that this town was widely known for its artisan community and was well worth a stop. Making our way down into the town on what seemed like little more than footpaths, we saw absolutely no activity of any kind, not even any cars parked. When the footpath we were driving upon actually sprouted stairs, we finally gave in ...

... ve had, among many, on this trip all came from Sophia's restaurant including easily the best cucumbers either of us has ever had. Such warmth; we were thrilled to be able to settle in for our longest stay at any one place during the whole of our month in Greece. By design, as this was the beginning of the end (day 21 of 30), we'd decided to have an extended stay in a small village and we knew we'd struck gold, eager to both explore the island and relax in this delightful small-town redoubt.
