outdoors sports

Outdoor recreation is the fastest growing category of recreation in the U.S., and perhaps worldwide. In addition to hiking, trekking, backbacking, camping, fishing, hunting, skiing, swimming, boating, scuba diving, and all of the other outdoor recreational activities with which we are familiar can be added sports activities, some of which include competitions. So, when you consider surfing, windsurfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, adventure races ...

Beginnings, Mansions and Chinese Medicines

... br>Let's just say, we don't think our first accom experience could have been more challenging.\<br><br>The building had 3 main 'wings', in order to access our hostel, we had to go to the third wing up an elevator to the 15th floor. The elevator was tiny, only big enough for 7 ppl, and very slow and cramped. To get to this elevator, we had to walk through the ground floor of le mansion, which housed multiple dodgy Indian takeway outlets, 'genuine' electronic and clothing goods and ...

Visiting the clouds of hong kong

... number 2, check what your buying before you buy it. So then onto the buddah after the shows and alas...it had been covered up by clouds thanks to waiting for the monkey show!!! So we climbed the stairs and finally could see it but again photos wernt great due to the familiar grey tinge of cloud following us. Must say though although the cloud ruined a lot of photos, it was also quite cool and made some good photos getting a cable car that went above ...

Hong Kong - Finally!

... 30 minute journey back into the centre of HK, a nail-biting ride down winding roads just metres from very steep drops. For the next few hours we wandered around central HK, and managed to find a fast-food noodle bar (trickier than you'd imagine) so I could get my noodle fix! Early evening we went back to the hotel and went up onto the roof pool for a swim - unfortunately there were quite a few big fat men in the jacuzzi so we didn't really fancy squeezing in with them....<br><br> That ...

The Story So Far

... tix's made it so much easier and convenient and I didn't mind paying a bit extra for that convenience). Train from Tin Shui Wai to Nam Cheong - went to the wrong platform and asked about where to go - we got the right advice and got to the terminus station. From there we got the Hong Kong line and got off at Kowloon - nothing much to see near the station and it was ******* down - so we got back on the train and headed for Hong Kong Island. It ...

A World Away

... the Frog bag a bath and then dried it with the blow dryer. (Yes, we are adults [Sara says begrudgingly...or was she snickering? Hard to say] and we still love our muppets.) Steve had fun making it look like a balloon. Lunch the next morning was by the pier we came in on. They had garlic bread...REAL garlic bread and excellent pasta. We could live here...but unfortunately not at this moment. Next stop, Macau.

Am I in China or not? My week in Hong Kong

... I expected to get better deals on electronics with no such luck. The prices were about equal to those at home, just newer models. I also had the chance to venture out to one of the islands, Lantau. It is actually the biggest of Hong Kong's islands and is where the biggest sitting buddha in the world is located. I of course did the touristy thing and took the cable car up to the peak. It was a spectacular ride despite the cost. The buddha was simply spectacular and ...

Geburtstagswochenende

Madly Weighing up my Options

... is growing, communication is clear and whilst I haven't made a definite decision I can see myself working with these people. Of course, there are doubts, some of them long running with regard to the management but the feeling of building something is a rewarding one. Today, I was building in the morning, then bang... the bridges have been blown, two bricks to the balls, and the English boss has reminded me of all the ...
