No.51 Rua de Xangai Macau Peninsula, Macau, China, 2878-1888
... the gleaming new casinos along the waterfront. Macau is a haven for gamblers, because gambling is forbidden in China and heavily controlled in Hong Kong.
But I wasn't there for gambling. I slipped through the bulking buildings, gleaming like gemstones, each one with its own eccentric shape to attract your attention. I headed straight for the old town, and suddenly, I felt like I had stepped out of Asia and into ...
... weather I spent a couple of days lazily wandering around or chilling and dodging the rain.
I was expecting Macau to just be the big gambling Las Vegas of the east but it was easy enough to escape all of that and there was some really nice places to wander around but it was time to get a ferry to HK and arrange my visa in case the typhoon grounded me in Macau.

Wir sind auf jeden Fall noch nie so schnell ueb** Wass** gefahren, es hatte schon eh** was von fliegen. Nach ein** Stunde waren wir dann auch schon da und konnten in Macau von Bord. Macau Peninsula, Macau, China nax... There was also a glass platform placed over the foundations where the church once stood, to reveal the original structure. Toward the end of the space there was a crypt. It was a minimalist, modern, two-story glass structure for displaying the bones of crucified Japanese martyrs from Nagasaki in 1597. I admired it for its architectural design but I was still taken aback by the ...
Macau, China mikela... picturesque and quaint, and we luckily stumbled across a really great little restaurant, where we had not only lunch and dinner - we had a really great meat stew with rice for lunch, then roast chicken and pumpkin soup for dinner, which was such a nice change after endless noodles, and fired rice in China. Both of us had never been to Las Vegas, but had been to casinos before in The Uk , but here in Macau we spent most of our time ...
Macau, China jon-daniella... clock is as good as mine and she woke up just in time for us to get dressed, wake Jonathan, and be in the lobby on time. We had hoped to get breakfast, but it was either that or 45 more minutes of sleep. So we were in the lobby just in time at 7:15. I wished we'd been able to get up earlier so that we could have breakfast with Nikki, since she was leaving today, but she wasn't much for goodbyes and it would have been painful to draw it out, anyway. It was probably easier this way. She ...

Macau, Macau jxne... on the other islands, either due to habitiation or size, and for this alone, it is worth waiting for the bus, but beyond that, the island also has a simple charm. Like Lamma, it is seemingly removed from the pace of Hong Kong proper, but it is engaging on its own terms and and has its own sites of interest. My day was centred around the Tian Tin Buddha at Po Lin monastery, the largest seated outdoor bronze buddha in the world ...
Kowloon, Hong Kong sahs... with Britons who all had Korean tailors that got their fabric from the Egyptians who flew in fresh tobacco which was sold at the Lebanese stores to nicotine addicted Irish customers. These are the peoples who make up the incredibly diverse and vibrant city of Hong Kong. At the customs depot going into the PRC (People's Republic of China) we met two Canadians-Hong Couverites (Vancouverites), a father and son. The dad still lives in Vancouver and the son in Hong Kong. He ...
