We took a short ferry ride (1 hour) from Paros to Naxos and we noticed right away that Naxos island has a totally different feel and pace from Paros. Naxos city (also called Chora) is the largest city on the island with 6,500 residents and has been inhabited since 1000 BC. Just as you enter the port a huge marble arch greets you that is the former temple of Apollo. We were picked up at the ferry and drove a short distance to our ...

During the Mycenaean Period (1200-1000 BC) a fortified citadel flourished at Koukounaries that is near Naoussa. It was a warm and sunny day so a number of us wasted no time getting to the beach. The water was not Hawaii ...

We arrived in Naxos on our comfortable and speedy aquajet and were thankfully met by an agent who showed us to our transfer and organised the information for our stay (things were looking up!).
Our hotel was on the outskirts of the main area and check in was simple before being shown to our room and getting a run-down of the area and the island.
With the plan of a very chilled out night in our heads we decided ...

... as good as the others, so we packed it to take home (whilst trying not to offend our server, who did give us his number at the end of the meal). The whole thing was €23. After our complimentary watermelon we went across the road and bought a tub of Ben and Jerry's Half Baked, which was a whopping €7.20, but no complaints as we ate in bed watching 10 Things I Hate About You. Good food ...
