Islamis Sects, Buoys, and Church

... like it. It makes me really sad that in the West this religion is portrayed as extremist and linked with terrorism. Only a small portion of people under the name of Islam support the acts of people who kill in the name of God and wage war. The actual beliefs and practices of Islam are peaceful and very similar to Judaism and Christianity. The media has used our ignorance of one another cultures and beliefs to create conflict ...

Mauritius

... rural areas are not unlike the sugar cane and mountain areas around Murwillumbah, but with a splattering of poor roadside villages. The Mauritian people have a wonderful friendly and optimistic outlook even though life seems tough. Indian in appearance, they speak French, Creole and only a little bit of English even though it is the official language. By day 3 the wind and rain set in, but who's ...

Must be a safe island: you need 3 keys to get in

... from several mountains. Mauritian society is highly multi-ethnic. Most of the island residents are the descendants of people from the Indian subcontinent. Mauritius also has large immigrant populations from continental Africa, Madagascar, France, Great Britain, and China, among other places. The official language of Mauritius is English. All government administrative documents are therefore drawn up in English. Together with English, French is also used in ...

Swimming with dolphins!

... been able to get in the water with the dolphins, so we asked Marcel about it. He told us that they wouldn't come to people, they weren't tame at all, and that they swam very fast, making it very difficult to see them in the water. When he asked if the girls were strong swimmers we confidently said yes. He was willing to let the girls don diving masks and pulled along in the water behind the catamaran as he would try to get close to the dolphins. Fiona and Tatiana ...

Toto, I don't think we're in Iowa anymore......

... it, it was just everywhere. We got to the dive place and it was part of a fancy hotel, it was a small building in the back of the restaurant, but they had all the dive equipment right there. After the guy checked out our cards he told five of us that we needed to do a pool test because we hadn't dove in over three months. None of us knew that we were going to end up paying for this pool test, but we got all suited up in full wet suits (for safety, not cold) and got into the ...

... have ideal contructions materials with which to work. We talked about his history in the Church and the situation in Mauritius. It was pleasure to better get to know this gentle, smiling man. After several hours, Suren came back and picked me up. We drove up to Grand Baie, just for a quick look around, and then back to Quatre Bornes for an Indian dinner.
