Cauliflower, cabbage, and turnips were brought to the islands about a century later by the powerful Dutch East Indies Company, which gained control of the trading routes. Though the Spanish contributed peanuts, tomatoes, corn, and the widely popular chili pepper, they were unable to defeat the Dutch, who ruled until the mid-1900s (Lifestyle Food, 2010).

... the time and memories I made in Manado. It was great to see all of them again. Really, what a great blessing!

So here we are in Jakarta! The capital city of Indonesia on the island of Java. Our new guide met us at the airport, Sandi. He seems like a nice guy, a little older than I expected but I'm sure he can keep up with us all! He had to wait a little while as one of the boys forgot his passport and left it on the plane... And then we all took ages getting through customs as we all missed the immigration desk where we had to buy ...

... struggled every step, inches from death. But remained strong and solid. We got to the outer rim where he explained we leave him and walk on, as he is slower going down, because it hurts his knees. Around an hour later, as we are struggling walking down the mountain ourselves, he suddenly appears out of nowhere and overtakes us. What a guy.

Our journey will see us making it to Bali.
