... very deep about 3m down to reach it. The different colour coral was beautiful, what was equally impressive was the number of fish swimming around the ship, there were hundreds of fish, large groups/clusters, which you could swim through. There were so many different colours/sizes and patterns, ranging from large plain coloured fish to small brightly coloured ones, I also saw a ...
Data, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia leehorscraft... for a few minutes to continue our ride to Tulamben. Tualamben is known for snorkeling and shore diving. The USS Liberty ship wreck sunk close to the shore as it was torpedoed by the Japanese. We arrived again late in the evening after a long day of driving around the Island. Luckily we rented the last available room. Checked-in and relaxed at the pebble beach just in front of our bungalow.

All the water taxis were anchored on the bay in a row, each with their own name, ours being 'Hercules'.

We checked into the small beachside bungalows of Bale Sampan which were set in beautiful gardens. The rooms had straw roofs, an open-air shower and dark wooden Balinese furniture.

The most impressive thing about the island was the abundance of coral and marine life in the water from just a few ...
Gili Trawangan, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia mikeandpaula_09... of the three, whilst Gili Air is the more family orientated one. Gili Meno is 'a place to play Robinson Crusoe' (LPlanet 04). We stay out of the main strip to avoid bass beats all night and frankly for cheaper accommodation. Every type is here on this island from $5 to $500 a night. There are no motor vehicles and no police on any of the islands and consequently all sales pitches on Gili T are as follows ...
Gili Trawangan, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia danstravelworldLast night the fever returned with vengence I'm not sure why it comes in the night but i guess if its heat stroke or sun stroke mixed with dehydration that could be a good start, and i will tell you how i got to that conclusion in a second. Last night So last night my friends wanted to head out and party but as i had not been feeling that great i called it a early night and went home. After tossing and turning for what seemed like an eternity i woke up needing ...
Gili Trawangan, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia senorbrianStill enjoying our island paradise but the weather hasn't been so great the last few days. Its rainy season here so everyday we have at least one tropical downpour. It cools the temperature down though which is good because otherwise it would be smoking hot here! Its been a busy last few days. I just finished my PADI open water diving course and Will did ...
Gili Trawangan, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia sarahandwill... It was a very typical basic room, but importantly it had two fans, electrical outlets, screened windows and a western toilet and shower available. We asked about whether breakfast was included and agreed to 80,000 Rp a night with breakfast for our stay there. The place is called Melati Home-stay and it is situated about 50 meters from the beach, right across from the Head Village Office for Gili Trawanagan. There is no police on the island, so this office is ...
Gili Trawanagan, Indonesia aaronpolarbear... to be for advanced divers, but our guide stayed close to her and she was fine. Diving a wreck without even having a basic cert is something that could only happen in a third world country like Indonesia where they are more interested in dollars than protocol. Our second dive of the day we saw a massive sea turtle and a sunken german plane. We rented an underwater camera for both these dives and I took some incredible pictures which I am very excited to share with you guys!
Tulamben, Bali, Indonesia j.mccrary... seems so peaceful. The marine life was amazing. It's crazy how much more you can see that little bit deeper than when you are snorkelling. We practised our buoyancy control and just followed Ketut's lead at 12m. We were down there for about 45 minutes and along with various small tropical fish we saw a pretty big grouper fish but apart from that nothing big and scary, this time! After our dive we filled in our log books and chatted about our next dive which was going to involve a bit ...
Tulamben, Bali, Indonesia willndebs... by travelling between dive sites, but with the shore dives we were doing and the tiny distance to travel (Tulamben is not much of a town - pretty much just for divers), lunch is the perfect way to take up a surface interval. For those of you who are not divers, you must have a surface interval of at least a specific length after diving so you don't get oxygen toxicity or the Bends. After lunch we did our homework review and since there ...
