... no cross country road trip would be complete without seeing the "Gateway to the West"! On our way, we saw signs for the worlds largest golf tee and also the worlds largest wind chime...although we were tempted to stop and see these most intriguing attractions, we had a long drive ahead of us, so we stayed on the highway. Another interesting thing that happened is that we crossed over our first time zone...not sure exactly where, but it was somewhere in SE Illinois....wish ...
... poles to push, and wading along the bank to pull the boats with ropes. A good day was 14 miles.
We went up in the arch. I have included some pictures out of the arch windows. It is cold here and rainy - high was 52, tonight a low of 40. The propane heat is working plus it helps to have two cats on the bed all night !!

... mozzarella covered in breadcrumbs and deep fried.... The ravioli is amazing, anyone coming over for dinner may be subjected to it for the next six months. After all that food to start we both went for a small bowl of pasta for the main - awesome and each bowl would still have fed two....
From there it was game over, both still feeling the mild swaying feeling that comes with jet lag, we knocked it on the head with the ambition of seeing the real St. Louis on Saturday ...

... a cycle race going on which took up most of the street, but gave it quite a fun atmosphere. There is a really funky old time style cinema and bowling alley as well. It also hold the St Louis Walk of Fame. Now granted I didn't recognise quite a few of the names, but there were a few that I did, and that I didn't realise were from St Louis, such as Chuck Berry, John Goodman, Nelly, TS Elliot, Ike and Tina Turner, and Betty Grable.
