... place up!!
The big excitement coming in to Tulsa was we got a flat tyre on our rental. Matt changed the tyre and we had to stop at the car rental place at Tulsa International Airport to swap it over. Anyway, got a new car okay and then this morning we noticed the front left tyre on the new car was looking suspiciously flat-ish as well!! We went back to the airport and they swapped it again for us. So fingers crossed that third time's teh charm!!
Ok..we have 2 more days till we depart. Is everyone getting excited? I know I am. I just received confirmation from the Hotel in Alabama that we can make signs for the doors. So let's get those creative juices flowing and make some signs. Use your imagination and fake fur..maybe a splash of glitter.. Don't forget the coaches.. there is nothing more manly than a coaches name thats been bedazzled. Here are a few pictures from the car wash..
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, United States bastormsoccerSo we are down to 7 days.. 7 days...For a parent don't blink..For a 14 year old its like..omg that's forever and a hundred. Plus if I hear another teenager say "it's like" one more time I'm ramming my car in a wall.
I'm sitting here in the office trying to figure out what am I going to ...
Another rest stop on the way home. Tulsa was absolutely stifling with humidity and heat when we arrived. I guess we are heading in the right direction.
On the way to Tulsa, we drove through St. Louis. We had a great view of the Arch as we drove through the city. Jerry & I have both visited the Arch before, so we didn't make any stops here.
We did see a Nike Outlet at one of our roadside stops. Jerry went ...
... departed with their children at 5:04 from Morton to points west. This is the least prepared and least advanced planned odyssey we have ever departed on. We called our friends the Legan's in Albuquerque to let them know we would roll in on Saturday and depart on Monday earlier in the week. Beyond that, we have no concrete plans other than knowing some of the places we will be and some of the people we will see.
Considerate folks would ...
... only one lane wide because in 1926 the state didn't have enough money to make all of the route two lanes wide.
In 1926, Route 66 originally came into Tulsa on what is now 11th street and then went north one mile on Mingo street to Admiral Boulevard. From here it went west on Admiral into downtown Tulsa and then south on Denver street to 11th street and onto the 11th street bridge into West Tulsa. Once in West Tulsa Route 66 moved towards Sapulpa Oklahoma on Southwest Boulevard.
... in advance. (okay...it all goes uphill from here) Arnie's Bar is a legend in downtown Tulsa, with an Irish pub theme, a shuffleboard along the back, and an easygoing group of locals who welcome out of town guests. We took a seat at the bar and quickly noted that they had Boulevard Wheat on tap. It was a happy sign on a dreary day. Our bartender, Christina, was uncannily attentive to her guests as she worked on a scrapbook for her sister's upcoming graduation. We made ...
Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States 2olivesBecause of my extension in India beyond 2 years, I managed to get one more trip back to the US. For this trip, I ended up working a lot and networking even more to try and find a spot in the firm for me after I leave India. But I also managed some time to spend with the family...and also with some long lost friends in Tulsa and my good friends in Dallas. Landed into Dallas and checked into a great hotel (hotel ...
Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States bwulz... up with my good friends Steve and Kieth on a night out on the town yesterday evening. The plan for sushi somehow got shelved though, and we ended up going to a rather snobby, quasi-Euro restaurant down on Tulsa's nightlife strip of Brookside. Despite all intentions to do some serious drinking together, I the jet lag started clubbing me hard after dinner and I was pretty much cashed by 11pm or so. Steve unfortunately has to return to Colorado, so further nights out on the town ...
