... hot. Morning tea today is in transit. Cold drinks and tomato and cheese on crackers all prepared while motoring along old Route 66. Next stop is in Carthage. This is a pretty little town . It's claim to fame besides being on Route 66 is its City Hall, Whee Bridge and a number of beautiful historical houses. For lunch we stopped just outside Tulsa city, at one of the few remaining true Route 66 diners. I enjoyed a fried chicken sandwich. ... version. It was so badly maintained, to the point of being no existent in parts with huge potholes and cracks in the road.
After this brief bumpy road, we were back onto a regular road, stopping at Afton to grab a drink. While there, we spotted the faded Buffalo Ranch Trading Post - it didn't appear to be open but there was Buffalo in the paddock behind it and they were being fed when we got there.
