We must be crazy leaving Florida this morning, (this great state of Florida) Slowly making our way back to Kentucky. As we leave Pensacola Florida we are driving to Cherokee Campground in Helena, Alabama. Should be there late this afternoon. Not liking the coldness I feel in the air as we approach I-65. This is a nice hotel but it's close to the bottom of my list of favorite overnights. It's not in a very good area and there isn't anything around the hotel. And they say "don't go wandering around" so I don't. I bring my own food with me in a lunch cooler so I don't need to go anywhere. ... see the beignets being made, amazing, a mass-production line, two guys casualy tossing handsful of the fresh cut dough over their shoulders into vats of boiling oil, out come these delicious bites, to waiting servers, smothered in sugar powder, to the table piping hot. We stopped off in Birmingham since Derek was too tired to drive all the way to Tennessee, so we decided to go to a museum. There was this snooty art lady that totally judged me for not knowing what chairscurrying or something like that is.
