After a fairly long journey down the coast we did a quick stopover in Mersing before getting the boat to Tioman. Met a lovely Spanish couple who were also heading to Tioman.

Mersing turned out to be a two street town full of traffic and (strangely) large butterflies.

We successfully found the chinese electrical store that we'd been told about, Kedda Komputer and Elektrikal Goods, and they did indeed have a laptop supply which could be set to 19V and which works with the netbook!

All in all we quite liked Mersing.

We arrived into the old port town of Mersing around midday, having left the island of Tioman an hour and a half earlier. Much to our disappointment, we were back again in this place all too soon.

... the driver of our original bus now behind the steering wheel, and apparently he had no clue on how to drive a stick shift! He got a few pointers from some random fellow, and off we went. He stalled on an uphill and for a while it seemed like we would drive all the way to Mersing in first gear. In the end, it turned out it was 3rd gear.
