Stopover in Mersing

Mersing turned out to be a two street town full of traffic and (strangely) large butterflies.

We successfully found the chinese electrical store that we'd been told about, Kedda Komputer and Elektrikal Goods, and they did indeed have a laptop supply which could be set to 19V and which works with the netbook!

All in all we quite liked Mersing.

... 8221;. Around 9 o clock that night I felt the need to go for a walk so I headed out to a local restaurant and sat down for some food and a beer. As I sat there eating my chicken and oyster sauce, everything seemed perfect. It was the first point of my trip where I felt like I was in the right place, where I belong. Already asia had given me a warm welcome. I headed down to the riverside bar for one more beer and enjoyed a corona, from first sip to last ...

All we did on Phuket was go the see the movie the Watchmen in a cinema that had couches, very nice although the movie sucked harder than the Dyson under the stairs at home! we then made our way to thhe beaches of Krabi which were ok, had some Barracuda on the BBQ, swam in the sea, got breakfast ...

Malaysia: Where I Found My Limit

... were stuck in Mersing. No big deal. The next day, I set off for the island! And oh my goodness it was awesome! Imagine a big, hilly island covered in dark green lush jungle and surrounded by a strip of white sand beach and bright turquoise water. It was a tropical paradise!!! I ended up staying in a town called Air Batang. This town was the perfect mix of tourists and locals and it was so small that by the end of my first day I think I had ...

Second Half of the Day!

... on me what a fabulous place it was! No alcohol, no coffee, no cigarettes even! Everyone was gather together, mingling, eating fresh off the tree fruit! Try finding such a place so vibrant, so bustling, so busy on a Sunday night anywhere else in the world! I've never seen it anywhere! Go FRUIT! The night ended with me discovering mangosteens and eating about fifty thousand of them! Gen's mum and dad are champs - thanks!

The Oracle!

... which massaged them. Machines - not something I usually like but rather nice in this case! Then I was led into a room where the Head Apprentice did more extensive massage work on my back, shoulders, hips and hamstrings... then the Oracle was called in... The Oracle put me into position and stretched my back... in a special way! It was cool that only the Oracle himself was allowed to perform these stretches! After some more words in Mandarin, the Apprentice did ...

Still in Singapore

Well I was supposed to leave Singapore and head up the East coast of Malaysia before flying out of KL on 5th April. I was having such a good time in Singapore I decided to stay. On Wednesday I went to Sentosa Island and wandered around. It's very touristy. I spent a while lying on the beach and swimming in the sea but it's all man made and nothing compared to other beaches in SE Asia. That evening 13 of us went up to the 72nd floor of a hotel (don't remember the name but it was ...

The motorbikes have the same rights as pedestrians and the pedestrians have raised J-walking to an art form. There is not much to KL unless you've always wanted to see the tallest flag pole or twin towers that are still standing. Oh there are some amazing woodcarvings and furniture but no space in my backpack having said ...
