    Didn't leave the hostel until midday then caught the MRT to Kanjii for SN$2.50 which took about 50mins and then the number 160 bus from there to the border {SN$1.50}. Considering how efficient and organised downtown Singapore had been the border formalities where a joke in comparison. I had to queue up and wait for about an hour to be processed as there were only half a dozen immigration desks operating which was really ...

    ... town. Fortunately it's reasonably cheap here and despite being Ramadan there are restaurants serving food (Indian and Chinese). Plus we have working internet for once...

    If you find yourself in a similar position, or even plan to stay here, there are numerous hotels along the main road which are just a short walk between the bus station and the jetty, so conveniently located... just take your pick.

    Two Days of Travel,, almost north to south Malaysia !!!



    As I have said we have decided to give another Malaysian Island a try, we are going back to the Perhentian islands, we last visited here 10 years ago. This will take us 2 days of bus and rail travel to cover the 400 miles before we take the ferry out to the islands.

    ... a few. The soonest we could be on our way was at 6pm, getting us to Mersing at midnight. Not quite ideal, but we didn't have much choice, not wanting to waste too much time en route. So we had some food at the bus station and waited for about four hours, fantasizing about the idyllic Tioman island that we were about to visit. Surely, once we got on the bus to Mersing everything would go smooth.
