Travel Blogs by Travelers Who Stayed at the Embassy All Suites Buenos Aires

my first days...

My trip began last Wednesday, when I flew from LA to Miami. We had a 2-day orientation at the Embassy Suites Miami, and then we flew to Buenos Aires the next evening. In Buenos Aires, we stayed in an old school/monastery, for two days. They taught us about customs and culture of Argentina, and there was a talent show. Each country had to present something "unique" to our country. The Americans chose to dance Soulja Boy, Cotton Eye JOe, and the cha cha slide. :) Two days later, I took a bus fr...

- Checking out the amazing Faene hotel – a masterpiece in concept design and eccentric elegance. It’s so mad it kind of works – stuffed antelope heads mounted on the wall dripping with costume jewellery. Swan head taps in the bathrooms, white unicorn heads protruding from white walls over white ...

Final days´ prep and sightseeing

... a puncture and the slime fails or the tubeless tyre pops off its rim).

As we are walking down the main road - 9 De Julio - we get covered in green ´¨bird *****´¨ which of course isn`t. It´s the old thief trick of throwing something at you and then offering to wipe it off at the same time picking your pocket. Jools realises straight away what gives and keeps walking and I turn around and give the perpetrator a filthy look before heading off as well. We spend five minutes wiping ...

... happy to share all their adventues, and give great advice. Its great the way backpackers start chatting with you randomly over breakfast, and we both love the atmosphere in most of the hostels we`ve stayed in. They generally reccomend or even book the hostel for the next place you`re heading. Sometimes you end up meeting the same travellers again if they are following the same trail. Good times!

Day 6 - Buenos Aires - The Grip

Today we are out of clothes or rather I've got tired of wearing used items, remembering that I surrendered space in my rucksack for schoolbooks, medical kit and electronics items. Off to our first visit to the launderette before our fourth day at Spanish school. Without a tv and limited internet access we are almost ignorant of news and I have been curious by the growing number of masked clad locals. I was a little take aback when the launderette manager said in a disturbingly ...

... we were. Apparently its quoiityte dangerouss for tourists to gon in that section. The fans sing and dance the whole way through the game and when the opposition scored they didn´t even bat an eyelid and just kept on singing as if nothing had happened. After the game we got back to the hostel and started drinking till 3am. Everything runs really late here. People don´t even head out for dinner till around 10/11. Went to the big cemetary in Recoleta today. Its full of tombs for the ...

The best bus ride so far on this incredible trip throughout South America with Crucero del Norte (had white wine with dinner, immediately before passing out for the night on my super comfortable cama seat). I´ve grown accustomed to all these long-distance bus rides. There´s always a lot of time for introspection and evaluation, as well as planning for what to do ...

... fans were delighted to have the awe of the turistas. They shared their songs, chants and seats with us. It was an experience never to forget and the ambience was electric as everybody got behind the boys in blue and yellow. If I was going to give you any word of warning (apart from dressing down, blending in and leaving valuables behind) it would be avoid as best you can the puddles of **** in conspicuous looking corners. Day 2 Buenos Aires

... not much more than river shacks and are quite cheap to buy as they have no road access but they do have electricity and phones. Some are nice but they are mainly very run down and have all seen better days. The river itself appears to be quite polluted and is brown in color, with lots of traffic on the river. One funny thing is that market boats ply the water so the ...

Darcie hits the jackpot!

Veronica said "Let me help", grabbed Darcie by the hand, and led us both to an ATM. She explained how the ATM system worked here ...
