... 8364;5 and got €8.32 back ... WINNNING !!! Yay :D. We later enjoyed a €16 drink because we were in the Monte Carlo and why not. Jake and Todd got the James Bond martini's and meg and I got cosmopolitans. There's tasted like petrol and our was a lovely cranberry delight! Meg, jake and Todd all put €10 each on the black jack table. Both meg and jake bombed out on the first round and again on the first round after wasting another ...

We return to the ancestral manse

... cones and stopping suddenly to look in a shop window, blocking the narrow way. We revisited the old church at the highest point in the village. Then we tracked down the shop of our German friend Giesela, proprietress of Les Trois Etioles. It had moved to another part of the village, but the fabulous home-made liquors were alive and well. Carole and I toasted little glasses of fig liquor, which was beyond scrumptious.

Cote D'Azur

... is an obvious highrollers hangout. Unfortunately jandals didn't make the dress code so no loading up on the Trente En Quarante. Hitting Nice we immediately got an idea of the popularity of the Cote D'Azur as the town and beaches were absolutely rammo! After pitching the tent we jumped across the road and into the Med for an afternoon dip. The next day we headed to Cannes. The marina was again packed with heaps of outrageous super yatchs (some ...

    Overpriced arrogance

    from anonymous

We stayed here in June 2004. Having checked maps before booking, we were aware that the hotel was a good walk from the center so that was not a big deal for us. However, for the price we would have expected much better service and a better room. 'Ocean view' means barely being able to see the see through the filthy windows. 'King size bed' means two single beds with uncomfortable mattresses pushed together. The bathroom completely flooded when using the shower. A lukewarm, mediocre beer costs 11 (!) euro. Poolside service is non-existent and the staff is arrogant. We will never stay here again...

    Not quite on the Promenade

    from JADLondon

Hotel is a perfectly adequate four star property with a superb roof-top swimming pool, however I would not stay there again. The hotel is not on the Promenade but slightly off it, so sea view rooms are at an angle! Location is at the far end of everything away from the Old Town and even five minutes further than the Negresco. Breakfast was decidedly average.

    Great Stay!

    from zoomer81

We stayed in this hotel for four nights in June 2004 and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is only a 10 minute bus journey from the airport and is located just off the promenade.

The staff were generally very helpful and we were upgraded to a room with a sea view. The room was spacious and very clean with a lovely marble bathroom. The rooftop swimming pool was great, with lots of sun loungers, a bar and fantastic views along the promenade.

Overall a lovely hotel, we would definitely come back here again.

    Nice stay

    from anonymous

Although the hotel is offering only a side seaview, the location is excellent, not far away from the center of Nice. The staff has been really helpful during my stay, the rooms are quite nicely decorated and the restaurant is excellent. I would definitely recommand this hotel for another stay in Nice.

We thought it was great value

    from anonymous

Ok..so it was a little hard to find because it is not exactly on the promenade - but it is close enough and the room we were in had a great view of the sea. It was in walking distance of all the good restaurants and shopping and straight across the road from the beach and the cafes on the sand/rocks. Much cheaper than the other hotels directly on the promenade especially if you book on the net. The rooms were fine maybge a little outdated but the beds were king size and comfortable. Great bar and the staff were very helpful - we are going back to Nice next month and will definately stay there again.

    Not on the blvd anglais

    from polin001

The hotel adverises a boulevard Anglais address but it is not on the Blvd. Although my stay was adequate, there are several things to be aware of: King bed means two joined twins. Some rooms have sea view, some have partial sea view and some have city view. Make it clear what you want when you book. There are some larger rooms that are right near the elevator or the oposite side of the elevator. The typical room is very small for the money. The staff is very friendly and accomodating.

The location is about a 15 minute walk from old Nice and 5 minutes from the Negresco.

    No kids!!

    from anonymous

Got kids under 5?-well dont stay here!! The restaurant says kids eat free, BUT they dont open tilll 7.30 pm when young kids are asleep anyway so thats a con as they will never make it to the restaurant!!!

There is NO kids menu either.......!!When asked for food to be made for him as room service at 5.00pm when he was hungry-'No, kitchens are closed!!'was the reply, 'would he like some crisps!!!!!!' They never got a single room service request right-always messed it up!! In addition the plumbing is very noisy-all the time. Its dark, and dull in decor. The only good point was the female dutch receptionist who is excellent at her job. in future we are sticking to Hiltons!!!

    No Palace here...

    from iMagellan

Sounds like a "palace" but really not. It is old, on the small side and in need of renovation.

The hotel does not even face the ocean so the ocean views are all just partial ocean views.

You can't open any windows so if smoke gets under your door at night, you are in hell.

Staff was generally rude or indifferent.

    Would never stay there again.

    Four Stars by Four Points

    from anonymous

Don't let the address fool you... Even though the address is Promenade des Anglais, the hotel is actually situated on a side street half a block off the promenade itself. I had a room on the sixth floor facing the (at times) noisy street behind the hotel. The room was moderately sized, nicely decorated and clean, with a comfortable king size bed and clean marble bathroom. Unfortunately, the room got rather cold at night (this was in March), and there was no heat coming from the vents. Minor details - only one English TV station - CNN. I don't perticularly enjoy "winding down" watching the news, but perhaps you do... All in all - a good experience.
