Just stayed at the Heartbreak Hotel, July03..couldn't get reservations the first night so we came back early the next morning got a room for the night. The pricing wasn't bad....when I got to my room...I wasn't impressed. Very small..nice that it had a king for the adults and a pullout for the kids. The bathroom was a cracker box..and the exhaust fan would deafen a person. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great.
Pool was small...heartshape was neat...but small. The lobby was the most exciting part of the whole hotel. It was colorful, inviting and just made you want to stay there. I agree that the front of the building was very blah and boring. I'd do a lot of work there if I owned it. You can tell it was an older hotel that had been slightly redone inside and out.
Hell with a Heart Shaped Swimming Pool

This hotel is very misleading. When I made reservations over the phone I was told there were two king size beds in the King Suite. Well, when we checked in and got to the room there was only one king size bed with one pull out couch. Words cannot fully describe how uncomfortable this pull out couch was. It was like sleeping on wires. No cushion whatsoever or pillows!! Okay and from there we can go to the TV not having a remote control with it. And lets not forget the bathroom! So small that when you open up the bathroom door it hits the toilet bowl.
The shower curtain didn't even touch the top of the bathtub so if you showered water was leaked onto the floor. Also the vent wasn't working in the bathroom, so no way to get rid of the steam, your room ends up like a sauna after every shower taken. The whole room just seemed dirty!! I didn't want to touch anything. The pictures they show on their website are very deceiving. I have never been so happy to check out of this place called hell with a heart shaped pool!
Interesting

My family and I thought it was a great place to stay. The bathroom did have a few repair issues(broken plastic on faucets, some mold on walls) other than that place very clean and unique.
Take it for what it is!

Take this hotel purely for what it is--a tacky tourist trap. But if you enter into the spirit it is fun. Regular shuttles to and from the airport and downtown. Although the downtown ones don't start running till 11.00a.m. Opposite Gracelands. Full of over the top Elvis fans especially British. Rooms fairly comfortable but dusty, need much better vacuuming. Other than that clean. We were given a suite which was great fun but again badly needed to get rid of the dust. Breakfast was extremely plentiful and very busy. An interesting experience and a bit of fun as a one off. April 2003

I stayed in the Hearkbreak Hotel in April 2000 and thought it was very good, It was clean, and comfortable, the breakfast was plentiful on a help yourself basis. The staff were very helpful in all I was pleased with my stay. My only comment was I did not like the frontage of the hotel it just looked like a big white box.
A little taken back with hotel

When we arrived at the Heartbreak Hotel, I was taken back a bit. Elvis Presley Enterprises own's this and I don't see why they don't keep it the best they possibly can with all the money they are taken in with this tourist attraction. I don't think Elvis would be to happy with it. So if you read this Lisa Marie please do something about this hotel. It is not clean, the bathrooms are run down. The landscaping should be something to look at. I am so surprised it is taken care of like this. The breakfast should have more to it than they offer. It reminded me of a 3 hour stay at a cheap motel. I am sorry that I have to rate this hotel like this, we made the best of it and we had a wonderful time in Memphis, Tennessee.
Not to clean, getting run down!

I just returned from the Heart Break Hotel in Memphis, TN. My room was not clean, the back of the toilet was glued back together, the sink did not empty, I had to make my own bed on the pull out couch, the blanket provided had a hole (cigrette? in a non-smoking room) in it, the rugs in the halls on the first floor where badly worn...... all in all if you rent the suite for $350. a night maybe it's o.k. but if not.....it was not very nice to stay at. They need to CLEAN and do some renovations. On the plus side the front desk staff was Great. and the shuttle bus to down town was great.
You're better off downtown

This hotel is really nothing special. Ok, there's a free Elvis movie channel and a picture of him on the bedroom wall, but that's about it. The rooms are ok, but they've got air conditioning units on the corners of each floor that sound like a plane taking off - I'd have stayed at an airport hotel if I'd wanted to hear that.
When we booked our holiday we hadn't realised how easy and cheap (free actually, there's a complimentary shuttle bus), it is to get from downtown to Graceland.
If you want to see Graceland (and if you're in Memphis who wouldn't), I would recommend staying downtown, and using the Sun Studios shuttle bus to visit - it takes a circular route, from downtown to Graceland, Sun Studios and then back to downtown.
