El Burgo Ranero, Castile-León, Spain and Canary Islands martinlepelerin... like the ends of the world to a tiny, disgusting club with bad music and worse drinks. (I am not against giving money for good causes, but it is also, in my opinion, mandatory to have a fabulous time on New Year's. Maybe it's family superstition, but a good party on New Year's sets the mood for the ensuing year...). Well, I had still wanted to see what it would have been like to attend the festivities and I would like to confirm that the ball room at the Círculo de Bellas Artes ...

Madrid, Spain kkward... Decorative" because there is not a scratch on any of them. They were never used in battle. On my last night in in Madrid, I was lying in bed when I suddenly realized I had not seen my camera bag in my backpack when I packed my old boots(It is hard to let go) into the bottom compartment. I jumped up and searched through my backpack and sure enough it was no where to be found. Some little Git had stolen it. I had not noticed ...
Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands anywherebuthere... little window and the view out the window is very nice. (However, it is not as lovely as the view from Barcelona). Speaking of, on our last day in Barcelona we walked the entire length of La Rambla, posed for some pictures with the "living statues" that only come to life when you give them money, walked down the port, and then sat on the beach for an hour or so. It really was a lovely day! We have a plan for ...
Madrid, Spain leighanne... toured the entire museum. We made our way over to Goya... and if you really want to know how he went crazy and painted his walls... email me... for everyone else Sarah said his paintings were dark. The next pictures are of our faces after 50 hours of travel... and then I passed out in the airport... too much fun, not enough sleep, but on to Ireland! Personal note if you are wondering about Trip II: Dan fell absolutely in LOVE with Madrid!!! (Sarah too)
Madrid, Spain basa1126... we met to the Palacio, a great place with incredible mohitos (costs 8 euro to enter but first mohito is free) and even has dancers in their lingerie on stage - both a chick and a rather sweaty gay guy! (photos up soon). We left around two and not quite ready to sleep me and peter went back to the pirate bar from the night before finally hit the hay around 4... so much for not drinking hey! Didn´t quite make it to any museums the next day but did make it to my bus to head to Bilboa.
Madrid, Spain lexigerber... food and drink and music. conversation flowed in spanish and english, the mexican bingo cards were taken out, the nativity diarama was ceremonially finished, very fine tequilla was sipped. all the while we three gringos were in complete awe of our company, who seemed masters of languages, gastronomy, interior design, fashion and the solemn mexican salsa. Christmas day was more antipodean, being just two kiwis, one aussies, and a mountain of vegetarian food, including ...
Madrid, Spain petrm... my luggage, fill out a US Customs form, lug my bag (which was wrapped in plastic and couldn't be worn) down many hallways to the actual US customs line, wait in it for about 25 minutes, be interogated by the agent there as to whether or not I support the war in Iraq (I think it was a test-he kept looking at me rather fishily), and then drag my bag some more before depositing it on another conveyor belt. Then, I had to go through security again, where the guy ...
