... to the trip!  There aren't any trains or airports into the country either.  The entire country is so mountainous that straight roads aren't possible.  Extremely long tunnels have been dug in some areas, but they don't get too far through the mountain.  Before long we were again winding through the narrow mountain roads. To make matters worse, the roads were also being used by the locals for herding their livestock!  We were in a traffic jam for about an ...

      Day 22 - Friday, 26th September, 2014

We had decided on Thursday night that we were going to have a lazy day today. The hotel was arguably the best we had stayed at and it was cheap. So we booked in for another night.

We got up to the best inclusive breakfast of the trip so far, some of it being English style although there were no beans and after this went for ...

We left Perpignan and started riding due west into the Pyrenees Mountains. Our destination was Andorra.

We soon started to make height. The roads were great motorcycling roads, generally good road surfaces, long sweeping left and right bends. There was a nice view around every corner.

Mid afternoon saw us cross from France into Spain, the 9th country of our trip. ...

... hour due to a communication mixup with our Airbnb host. The apartment is in one of the many narrow side streets branching off from Les Rambles and is on the second floor of a very old apartment block, with stairwells like a maze. It is less than salubrious, but really close to everything. In the evening we walk down to the waterfront and have a lovely meal in a beautiful setting overlooking the water to celebrate our arrival in ...

... is no snow on the mountains parts of the road and some of the views are breathtaking. The lower tunnel to Andorra is closed for maintenance so we climb even higher than might normally be the case. The tunnel at the top is over two Kms long and we emerge into the affluent, ski settlement of Canillo. It is an impressive sight. The road up to Andorra I think is used for the Tour de France and once through the tunnel the roads are much wider and there are lots of chalets and ...
