Who would have thought that a volcano in Idaho would have thrown so much ash into the air that several feet of it landed all the way into eastern Nebraska? That's what happened millions of years ago and the skeletons of the animals it killed weren't discovered until the early 1970's. Blue skies this morning. Breakfast at Helen's and then we hit the road. Highways 20 & 12 run along northern Nebraska. Small towns, nice highways with very little traffic. We saw a cattle drive with a pickup leading about 25 cows being herded by 2-4wheelers along the side of the road. Had lunch at the Frosty Drive-In. In Valentine Ne. This was mostly a driving day. Appreciated a visit at KBRX Radio in O'Neill as we wound our way toward Valentine.
It's a kick to have a Valentine's Day dinner in Valentine, Neb., but not to be outdone, we'll be back in O'Neill for the Big St. Patrick's Day festivities there, including the parade with the famous green horse!
