... Got myself a map, spoke with front desk at hotel and acquired the intel I needed. I would go to the Museum in town, where I would be bound to find someone who could help me. They then highlighted on the map where the port was, which was pretty close to the museum.

So after our drama the night we arrived in surabaya, we had a really good night sleep at the expensive hotel and absolutely demolished the breakfast buffet to get our money's worth. We then got a taxi to a nearby hostel, which was much more affordable and closer to the centre.
