Next morning I get a late start, spending a good couple hours just chilling in front of the computer at the hostel. It's OK—I’ve been pushing myself pretty hard these last couple of days and deserve a bit of a break. When I do finally get out the door and to the train station, I find that the train that stops in Scafati, where I stopped my hike yesterday ...
... almost a “city” feel to it with a bustling main avenue, and it also has the cramped old city feel in its alleyways that lead up to a domed cathedral. Yes, definitely more than just a “Napoli Suburb” here.
As a matter of fact, Torre also has some impressive ruins of its own: a beautiful Roman estate destroyed by the volcano. But I figure I’ll save my ruins exploring for when I get to Pompeii, which is right down the road. ...
Finally, well into the evening after a number of miles of rolling hills, I find a road heading south into Torre del Greco, where I quickly reward myself with a delicious pizza, straight out of the wood oven. It turns out that pizzas are very delicious and very cheap here in Napoli—as little as 2 Euros… as long as you order them “to go”… So what I do is order a takeout pizza, and than rush to find ...
... world. A few hours later we scored an affordable beach side apartment. Of our time in Italy, Procida was one of the most enjoyable stops. Largely untouched by tourism, this island had just the right mix of quiet relaxation, good restaurants, and exploring opportunities.

P.S. Our bags arrived by 1:30 the next day with everything intact, including the bottle of Amarone wine that we probably should have declared through Customs! And since there is probably another Paul Jacobs out there somewhere who is listed on the "Do Not Fly" list, I think from now on, Paul, whenever he travels, should be known by another name... maybe? ...
