    ... tick on the list. By lunchtime we were in Salisbury for a look at the cathedral. It's a beautiful cathedral, but I liked the Bath Abbey more, the stained glass windows were amazing there. Salisbury is much larger and the exterior impressive. The 800 years of Magna Carta exhibition that was on show at the cathedral was really interesting. Getting quite warm 20 degrees ...

    ... admit that it was a thrill to see it!

    Our route to Stonehenge took us along the river Avon (one of four river Avons in England), a small river lined with huge estates, many of them with thatched roof mansions close to the river. We stopped to take pictures at one of them that was being re-thatched. This is expensive because it is labor-intensive, but only needs to be done every seventy years or so.

    After the cathedral we visited the Information Centre which had a museum attached to it depicting life in Chichester from the Roman occupation up to WWII. We were also surprised that the Centre was built around the site of Roman baths. We spent quite a few hours exploring Chichester and think we have made a good choice in selecting this location as a base.
